The box does specifically list different part numbers for the 5300 card and the 190 card, so I am not 100% sure. In my googling, I can't find reference of anyone ever using or posting about the 190 specific card.
I would love to know if your card works in both. I get screen light...
I received a PB190 with a 5300C screen, very nice machine in excellent quality.
It came with a NIB Lapis Ethernet/Video out combo card, specifically stamped "For PowerBook 5300"
When installed, the screen powers on (to the gray dithered screen, before Welcome To Macintosh, or the MacOS...
They seem to range from $70-$140 on eBay, plus the 14% or so they take in fees.
There's no ethernet on the Duo Dock Mini though. You'd still need an Asante Micro EN/SC or other SCSI Ethernet adapter + HDI-30 cable to get it online.
got it.
Does the full size PowerBook have the same dual film membrane keyboard? My contacts are all corroded and typing is almost impossible on it. Strange design...
It's one of the two AT&T components on the main logic board (107-0134/152-0012) that is maybe faulty, but it's operating normally for now. One of them has an "electric" smell. The caps are all in that corner too.
Does anyone know if the capacitors on a Duo 250 are all on the logic board? I...
I wonder if a duo will run with out any battery at all?
The charger definitely is putting out juice. I can always order 10 AAA cells and just keep it in there, if that's what it needs. I've got it down to bare board, it's clean, no cap goo.
Just received my FREE Duo 250 from BMOW and he said last time he used it, it worked fine.
I grabbed a tested Duo charger off eBay, but I cannot for the life of me get it to turn on. Will it not function without a working battery? I am running it battery-less.
When I plug in the charger I get...
I think that giant hunk of aluminum is actually still in that monitor //c.
There's some components bolted to it though, so I'd have to tie them up somewhere to remove that piece. I'll take a look over the weekend.
I've taken it apart many times, but I'm not sure which RF shielding you're talking about? It may have previously been removed, depending on where it was...
Well, I did speak with Ken B and he has sold nearly 100 of these with no issues.
That being said, my new cable came today and works perfect. It seems that the IIc simply is noisy and requires a well shielded cable.
So 1 more correction, I hooked up the "monitor" to a small media player I have, since it's just an NTSC compatible display device. Works flawlessly.
I can then narrow it down to two things. Either it needs a seriously shielded cable, which I will test tomorrow when it arrives -OR- that Dr Ken...
