I think I have a method.. I use Fetch to log into Macintosh Garden, then on my linux box (through ssh via my iMac LOL) I find the exact name of the file and do a "get file" from Fetch.. it seems to work fine.. but its a real hack.
I was able to get my networking up and running, its slow.. but Fetch is crashing on downloading a list of files from repo1.macintoshgarden.org
The Mac Iici has 64 MB of memory and I increased the size of the application memory, but it still crashes at some point.
Is there another site I can...
Thanks, just a couple of days ago I was able to make it work.. with a ZuluSCSI, the RaSCSI worked fine on my Centris 650. I tested the same boot images with both the RaSCSI and the ZuluSCSI, so it may be termination.
Actually, it does affect RAM. In fact, it affects all components, especially when a computer is turned on and turned off all the time.
The components and the board they are installed into warm up and cool down which causes expansion and contraction which is movement.
That’s why you have to...
The Slaton modules I installed the other day were tinned, so they probably figured this out.
Ages ago I designed a couple motherboards.. (80486 era, so it's been awhile), you pick this stuff up when you sell a few hundred thousand units.
You are correct, thanks for bringing that up. Dissimilar metals have different galvanic voltages, the greater the distance in galvanic voltages causes corrosion at a higher rate.
So my Mac IIci drive stopped booting, I was planning on updating to a RaSCSI so I guess it was time. After getting it all installed and using the web interface to build some volumes I can't get the Mac to recognize the RaSCSI drives.. I booted to floppy using the disk tools and it doesn't...
33 MHz PCI signaling is fairly forgiving, I worked on the original Intel EISA and ISA chipsets at Dell way back when. I also designed a PCI bridge for a graphics card using an Altera FPGA with fewer pins than a cheap Spartan 6 you can buy today. I had to hack the PCI config cycles in due to...
Years ago I had purchased physical copies of Code Warrior for my Mac Iici and Mac 7200, but I no longer have these CD's.
Can someone help me get up and running with registration information?
I am pretty sure I had Think C / Pascal before Code Warrior but I seem to remember CW more.
Thanks
I was looking through the 68030 user manual and it talks about asynchronous cycles but I don't see any improvement over synchronous cycles, does anyone know what are the fastest achievable cycles for read burst / read / writes on a 68030? It looks to me that it takes at least 11 cycles for a...
As a separate execution unit on a small ASIC on the motherboard. Its been a long time since I had a G4 silver, but I know its there.. I think it was called "Orca" with all the information floating around the web I was hoping to find something on this to hack with.
If you have a G4 silver check...
Your are correct Altivec is used in the G4, but Apple built a dedicated ASIC for media processing which was compatible with Altivec instructions.
I was just curious if there was any information out there on this ASIC.
Years ago I figured out that there was a hardware programmable Altivec unit on the G4 series, it was integer only but it was definitely shipped on the G4 silver as it showed up IOReg. One of the hardware engineers at Apple verified my findings but didn't have any information on it other than it...
Found it..

I remember reading this ages ago.
" Most of the 3D Developers were already working at their new employers at that time (3Dfx, Bungee, SGI)."
One of my friends was working at Synopsis at the time on timing and placement of a 3Dfx ASIC... he said there was Apple Verilog code mixed in with the 3Dfx code.. which was later absorbed...
Can you point me to the PDF from the SIGGRAPH on the accelerator? I remember working from the Tinsel Town spec ages ago, I was always curious on the workings of the QD 3D card.
