SE/30 advice needed regarding previous repair

As someone who recently did a recapping on his own SE/30... Try to clean up all that gunk as much as possible where the old caps were. Go slow and be patient, especially if you got the same "replacement" caps as I did, as they're larger than the old electrolytics and so there's very little...

Death chime and Simasimac on Mac SE/30

That's the same chime I got yesterday when I didn't have the rom-simm installed properly (swapping between 32-bit clean and original for A/UX...)

Patched Hard Disk .HDA File for Blue SCSI System 8.1 for the SE/30?

It's true that 7.5.3 boots on a stock SE/30 without patching, if you use one of the 32-bit rom-simms (I use a GGLabs not Rominator, but probably the same rom in the end...) you actually do need to do a resedit patch of the System file and System Update file to get it to play nice.

Quicktime just downloaded and installed an update... on my SE/30

Seriously, color me COMPLETELY shocked. I was using the Zip Drive on my SE/30 to rescue all of the data that have been trapped on some zip disks I have since the late 90s and in the process I came across my old MIDI and MOD/S3M music collection. I haven't yet succeeded in finding a good MOD...

Trouble Installing DaynaPort Drivers for RaSCSI

Have you checked that your bootstrap HDA has the proper hash, maybe there was a download issue? I was able to install from that onto my SE/30. Note that it was a ShrinkWrap 3.5 image. I just double-clicked and it opened up on my desktop. It doesn't work through DropDisk/Disk Copy. Also, I have...

Nearly silent audio in my SE/30

This morning was the first time I heard my SE/30's boot up chime! It was a bit of a painful recap, as the tantalum caps I got were larger than the original electrolytics so getting enough pad space to solder took time. Also along the way I learned that if I'm going to attempt this again, I need...

Nearly silent audio in my SE/30

All part of the learning process I guess. At least this gives me a solid guess as to what the issue probably is. Also, oddly enough, things look a lot dirtier in that photo than they do just looking here at the board in person... Thanks again all!

Nearly silent audio in my SE/30

Then I have been lied to! I believed it due to some of the caps being notably smaller than the outlines on the board which I know is sometimes the case when using newer components. Guess that tells me what my next step is.

Nearly silent audio in my SE/30

Awesome this is all super helpful. Attached are some shots of the mainboard front and back (with maxed ram, but stock rom-simm as I was playing w/ A/UX on it which didn't like the 32-bit clean rom...). Started looking through that circuit diagram and so far all of the connections that should be...

Nearly silent audio in my SE/30

I've been enjoying my SE/30 for a bit now, but the audio is lacking. I can get quiet audio from my headphones if I set volumes to max. If I try to run it through powered speakers I have to crank it to the point where the signal gets rather noisy and unpleasant. Needless to say the built-in...
