For what it’s worth I had two for sale locally here in Sweden for $50 and $40. One in excellent condition and the cheaper a bit yellow. Took me 3-4 weeks to get rid of them at that price 😅.
I’d go for a Rom4x and a FujiApple. I bought mine from @masteries here on 68kmla. A joystick is also nice to have. That’s pretty much it unless you’d feel the want for a mockingboard.
That’s awesome! There’s a fourth socket available for adding an oscillator, so hopefully you wouldn’t have to exchange anything and can just add the 24mhz one 😊.
Finally recieved my T48! Attached is a dump of the "Supermac Spectrum SE/30 v1.0" rom. Please help me check wether it seems correct as it's my first ever rom dump. I could read some text in the written data so that at least looked promising :).
I found this, seems you hold down a number on the keyboard according to this table upon boot to change card settings. This table only refers to the ”non cad” version of the card, so perhaps simply try numbers above 5 if the multisync setting doesn’t give you extra resolutions in the monitor...
Haha thought I’d seen a earlier version dated 1989. But perhaps they were released in -90. Terribly sorry to spread misinformation on such important details. I’ll make amends by celebrate the holiday twice this season 🤣
Forgot to take a picture of the actual card (Vimage SE/30 | VDR-2A) in my eager to get it running. But it came with a fairly late rom with version 1.3-1. Will share a dump as soon as my T48 gets here from China in a few weeks time. After that, the plan is to add the missing oscillators and...
Just received this little box of awesomeness straight from Japan (Buyee). Paid more than I’d like to admit (about $285 all in all 😬), but getting to open that box and experience the glory of 24bit color from a SE/30 was almost worth it 😂.
Thank you so much for taking the time to investigate. Super interesting. Checking here: https://archive.org/details/interware-vimage-macintosh-video-card-catalog/page/n2/mode/1up , the ”CAD” version should be able to do up to 1024*768 @ 8 bit. Given the osscilators there seems to be a chance...
Turns out I ordered a Pic 150k. Didn’t look too closely and it was $10 with next day delivery so didn’t think twice. Oh well, might be handy some other time. The cheapest TL886 variants seems to run about $85 😮
Just recieved my programmer and am ready to dump some roms. Problem is I have no clue which chip/pic type to choose? 😅. Anyone know what type from the list should work for this rom? Thanks
Hmm that's interesting, never seen a VDR-2J before. Any idea on what the difference is between that and the VDR-2A? I've also come across a VDR-2L, exactly same hardware as the VDR-2A except all the oscillator slots are filled (and the rom of course) - leading me to believe that is the "Vimage...
You have impressive knowledge around Supermac, did you perhaps work there at some time? :) Thanks for sharing! Don't have any specific questions other than just really interesting to learn a bit about the history of the cards. Interesting to have it confirmed they weren't really a volume...
“piece of kit
A specific item, often a piece of equipment. Primarily heard in UK.”
Sorry as a Swede (that has had obligatory british english as part of the curriculum) I don’t always realize some expressions doesn’t make sense in US english 😅
