    Upgrading a G4 Cube

Here is it: The empty pads where you could add the extra pull up transistors (Si4840DY) are Q3 (top of the image) and Q5 (bottom of the image). Here's the image with the new MOSFET installed from the old cubeowner knowledge base:

    Upgrading a G4 Cube

Some Cube CPU upgrades require the VRM bypass wire even with a custom VRM. Upgraded VRMs were useful for powering better graphic cards and could power some CPU upgrades, not all, but a VRM bypass is always preferred and in some cases necessary. From the old Cubeowner knowledge base: There are...

    G4 Gigabit Ethernet Bodge Diodes?

Ah, I've seen something similar on a G4 Cube logic board (not, mine, it was posted on another forum). It was this thread. The images were online less than a week ago, but not anymore... I've searched in case I had downloaded the image but no luck. Still, I remember them looking exactly the same...

Cube internal cable - ADC power

I have a CPU upgrade so the wiring is slightly different but the connector on the AGP riser card is the same (pics attached). The male connector has the code 43205 (second image) which is a standard Molex connector. The connector is the same in the other end.

Power Macintosh G3 B&W not booting

Four beeps means there's a problem with the logic board, although I don't know which one it is. According with Apple manuals, it means "Bad checksum for the remainder of the boot ROM ". That doesn't mean a problem with the boot ROM, but a problem in the verification test each system runs in each...

Power Macintosh G3 B&W not booting

The whole logic board should be discharged in a few minutes top. But you never know for sure. When you plug it again, look if the USB keyboard is receiving power. The light on the "Block Caps" key on Apple USB Keyboard turns on for a second when the computer starts up. I think that's why these...

Power Macintosh G3 B&W not booting

I doubt this is a bad cpu. To toast the CPU you'll need to increase the voltage. When you overclocked it (I assume you just changed the jumper settings) you didn't change the voltage to the CPU core, therefore, it won't overheat. You are just stressing it a bit, but that definitely won't heat...
