Thunder IV GX - What am I missing?

@olePigeon I just tried to mount the RadiusWare 4.0 image from above but I'm getting an "INVALID CHECKSUM" from disk copy on 7.6.1 on my Quadra... any tips?

Help with Radius Thunder IV GX 1600

Just popped this one into my Quadra 840AV which is working great with a Precision Color 8 at 1152x870 (thanks to @joshc and this thread by @jmacz and @Phipli) -- I'm planning to move the PC8 to my IIci... Was hoping to run the Thunder in the Quadra at 1600x1200... but seeing these weird lines...

    Quadra 840av Cold Boot Time

Really good to hear it’s par for the course! It is only annoying when I am debugging and crashing repeatedly as I experiment with fixes. Easy solution is to move over to my IIci 040 with 16MB RAM when I get into a grindy debug loop.

    Quadra 840av Cold Boot Time

Found a post on Macintosh Garden stating this hidden feature appeared around 8.5 and was PPC only. Bumped a relevant thread on System 7 Today.

    Quadra 840av Cold Boot Time

Hm... on 7.6.1 holding Opt-Cmd while opening the Memory control panel does not reveal the option to turn off the Startup Memory Tests. Tried individual keys too Opt, Cmd, Shift, just in case... but no dice.

    Quadra 840av Cold Boot Time

makes sense... will look into the disable option. when i'm debugging stuff it's so painful to wait through cold boots after a crash... i used to have a programmer switch on my machine back in the day but this one doesn't seem to have one.

    Quadra 840av Cold Boot Time

Just installed a PRAM battery... restart time down to 16 sec... cold boot down to 61 sec (extensions off)

    Quadra 840av Cold Boot Time

Having gotten a JackHammer and SCSI2SD humming along nicely on my 840av I'm curious to learn if there's anything I can do to accelerate a cold boot. I'm running 7.6.1 and *restarting* with extensions off takes about 24 seconds. But a *cold boot* also with extensions off takes 69 seconds...

SE/30 works great but no sound

The plot thickens... I realized that when I played the one custom sound (previous owner) from the sound control panel it wasn't actually crashing... It was just a long sound sample. I plugged in headphones and while not loud, the sound is present and clear...

Did yours crash when playing some sounds too? Agree recapping is a must but can't do it myself so need assistance.

SE/30 works great but no sound

Aha - it crashes when I play one particular sound in the sound control panel! Guessing it might be a longer/larger file? Fits your experience!

SE/30 works great but no sound

Or maybe someone has an SE or SE/30 that I could send my mobo to for recapping?

SE/30 works great but no sound

Now if I can just find someone in the bay area willing to recap my se/30!

SE/30 works great but no sound

I'm sure this has been covered! Guessing it's cap goo, but curious if anyone has another solution I should investigate other than recapping.
