Yeah, seems like the speaker is dead. Measured the resistance across its terminals and no connection. Doesn't seem like they are easily removable for replacing.
Another issue with the same Mac Plus I mentioned in my previous post: I get no chime at boot. If I plug in headphones I do hear one, but nothing is coming out of the speaker. I also tried increasing the volume in the control panel but it does nothing. I put in a new battery (I read somewhere...
@Byrd moving the RAM from the Novy board to the main board did the trick! Getting those RAM chips out of the Novy board was a real pain though.

I also tried a sequence of keys that suposedly disables the board (holding down reset and interrupt keys, then releasing the reset key), but that got me an unhappy mac with the error 0F00D
So, I have this old Mac Plus I’m trying to fix up and ran into this weird issue I’ve never encountered before. The mac turns on and I see the floppy disk with the question mark blinking on it. The odd thing is that around the floppy disk it is all black, instead of the black and white checker...
It doesn't look the machine crashes (which is what I'd expect from RAM problems). The screen just goes dark, as if you turned it off. I'm afraid I screwed up some cable or bumped into some component on the video board when I opened the machine. I'm not sure how to debug this.
Hello, my Mac Plus was working perfectly fine until I opened and dissembled it. After that the computer will boot up fine but after a few minutes the screen goes black. Any ideas what I might have screwed up? Shortly before that I also saw some weird artifacts when booting up from a screen...
