This archive seems to have gone away... mirror.macintosharchive.org/archive.info-mac.org/
Does anyone know of an http version (like FTP directories, but via HTTP) of the info-mac archive that's online anymore? I can't find one. I have found info-mac.org which is a forum interface to the...
lowendmac says that the 170 uses a "power supply: M5140 – 15W, 2 amps".
I have a M5651 which is 7.5V/2.0A. Stretching my math skills to the limit, I calculate that it's 15W. The connector fits the 170. However, with this adapter my new 170 of unknown condition won't boot. I'm guessing it...
I've been working on this for a couple weeks now. It's not perfect, but I think it's at the point where it's useful. If you can connect your old mac to your modern PC using a serial cable, then you get this sort of pseudo-bbs interface that lets you download and upload files using X/Y/ZModem. ...
I'm curious if there are any good disk image sets for people just getting started with their first classic mac? Something that could be available as a raw disk image that can be written using dd, for use on a "Getting started" type wiki article or thread. It seems like someone must have...
Does anyone know if there is there an API to access these forums? I have done a bit of searching, but I can't find any evidence of it. I am daydreaming about writing a Macintosh TCP application to access the forums, or perhaps a "door" for my current bbs project.
I salvaged an imagewriter from a local recycler. It's been a long time since I've used one. When I turn mine on, there is no movement of the print head, and all of the leds turn on steady. There is no response from any of the buttons (feed, quality, etc). From the manual, it mentions that...
Can anyone tell me the best/cheapest place to get an imagewriter II printer cartridge at the moment? I got an imagewriter at the local salvage place a few be days ago and it has a color ribbon which I'm not going to even try given the stories about these things I've read on here.
In a different thread (over in software), @Dog Cow mentioned that there are magic numbers which can be used to distinguish which version of the stuffit algorithm was used to compress a file. Does anyone have more information on this? I would like to build a utility that can sort *.sit files...
I have been trying to get software from macintoshgarden and macrepository to run on basiliskII and a powerbook. Here's a diagram showing the paths that the files take...

I have my mac (System 7.1) connected to my linux pc via serial. I can successfully transfer and then open/run *.sea.bin files from the linux machine to the mac using either YMODEM or XMODEM. However, when I transfer *.hqx files or *.sit files to the mac, it doesn't know what to do with them. ...
I want to order caps for several of my Macs. I've managed to find part lists for several of them, but the physical dimensions are almost never given. How do people order caps (SMD or THT) without this information?
I just acquired a 165 and 145B, which inspired me to pull my other 165 out of storage. Does anyone have a checklist of things that need to be done to these things to keep them happy? I've pulled the power batteries out of them. I've read about pram batteries... do these need to be replaced...
I developed a few TCP apps a few (~10) years ago. One was an MPD client and the other was a twitter client. I used Think Pascal and developed natively on old macs. I have recently discovered Retro68 and some of the work/repos that @ants has posted and been inspired to goof around a bit. I'm...
I have MPW from Apple's website. It appears to be from around 1999. I have a small C project (from circa 1994) that used to compile under MPW, but the 1999 MPW doesn't like it.
Does anyone know where I can get an older version of MPW?
Thanks
The idea was that I could write a program to run on my box that takes a mac disk image, and serves it to a real mac via the parallel port through the mac's floppy port. This would be useful for booting macs with bad drives, or macs with owners with no way to write a system disk. Perhaps one...
I received an LC475 running 7.1P and the system software was using 32Mb out of 36Mb. I did a clean install of 7.5.3 and it's just as bad. Surely it should be using less? I checked virtual memory, and it's off. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on?
Thanks.
Can anyone recommend a good utility for monitoring the ADB port? Something that can show what's connected, device handlers used, or addresses, etc.
Thanks.
I have an Apple 12" RGB monitor that doesn't use the full width of the screen. The top and bottom go to the edge of the screen, but the image needs to be stretched horizontally. On the back of the monitor I see tiny holes that let you adjust the screen position and the vertical height, but no...
The following article mentions that the APDA distributed a generic SCSI driver in assembler...

I'm not having any success finding it. Any chance someone has it? APDA product #KMSSDP.
Thanks.
