    Classic II Analog Board Repairs

How do I find this? I have a multimeter etc. but I don't know where to put the probes (I'm also a bit hesitant to put my hands near a CRT when it's on...)

    Classic II Analog Board Repairs

Hi all, I replaced all the mentioned components, and now the machine turns on and the CRT turns on! But the display is very garbled, it sort of looks like it's "rolling" and wavy. Seems quite bright too. Any ideas what is wrong?

    Fixing speaker on Mac Classic

I don't know how to measure impedance properly, but my meter gives the resistance over the speaker at around 20ohm. How do I check the jack? It looks clean but I don't know which pins are associated with the switch so I don't know how to check it.

    Fixing speaker on Mac Classic

What sort of speaker should I be getting, if I aim to replace it? I know next to nothing about speakers.

    Fixing speaker on Mac Classic

I have a Mac Classic that (after recapping everything) basically works perfectly, but i'm not getting any sound from the on-board speaker. The sound does work if i plug something into the headphone jack. Is there an easy way to repair this speaker? I haven't had a chance to check its impedance...

    Color Classic boot troubleshooting

It was when I fiddled with the software-controlled contrast (the buttons on the front)

    Color Classic boot troubleshooting

I tried doing the adjustment yesterday, but strangely, I fiddled with the contrast a bit and the display immediately corrected itself, so i guess I don't need to do the adjustments after all. Now works! Thanks everyone

    Classic II Analog Board Repairs

OK, I tested the MOSFET and indeed all legs seem shorted. If I replace the MOSFET, should I replace other components too? (this thread seems relevant: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/macintosh-classic-analog-board-blowing-fuse-and-mosfet-irfbc40.6787/)

    Classic II Analog Board Repairs

Would the diodes being bad cause the fuse to blow though? I'm very unfamiliar with how analog boards work. Edit: I just tested the diodes and I think they might be faulty. I get ~3 in one direction and ~0.5V in the other direction in diode test mode. I don't really know what that means but...

    Color Classic boot troubleshooting

I can't seem to find a hex-head plastic tool to use to adjust the display. Does anyone have any recommendations?

    Classic II Analog Board Repairs

Hi all, I have a Classic II with a working logic board but the analog board was not in good shape. Some capacitors were leaking slightly and the fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and I replaced all the capacitors and cleaned the board, but as soon as I tried to turn the machine on I saw a...

    Color Classic boot troubleshooting

Alright, some progress. I recapped the logic board and now it starts up successfully. The screen was entirely multiple shades of purple, though! After a few moments, the display corrected itself, but then a few moments later it became pale and washed out, with faint white diagonal lines going...

    Color Classic boot troubleshooting

I have a Color classic that doesn't boot that I recently acquired. The analog board seems to be working, because if I remove the logic board it powers on. Also, the logic board itself also looks to be in very good shape. Nonetheless, when I try to power it on with the logic board inserted...

    SE/30 restoration help

I have attached photos of the board below. It looks in reasonably good shape to me. I live in Edinburgh, UK. If someone could help me to recap the board I would appreciate it. Next year I will get a regular Mac SE and a Mac Classic II, and I might practice on those.

    SE/30 restoration help

I am a beginner at repairs to these machines, so please bear with me. I recently was given a poorly-maintained SE/30. On turning it on, all I get is zebra stripes on the screen and it's clearly not booting at all. Upon opening it up and looking at the LB, I see that the PRAM battery has been...

Repairing a dead Mac Classic II

In addition to a Mac SE I recently got a Mac Classic II (rev A, with the 4 rom chips). This one apparently used to work, but now when I power it on, the fan turns on but the CRT does not come on at all, and no startup bong is audible. Any ideas where I should start? I assume I should re-cap the...

Mac SE speaker broken? Also some screen issues.

Hi, I've recently purchased a Mac SE. I thought I would have to recap the logic board (I've never recapped anything before so was somewhat scared of that), but it looks to me as though the board might already be recapped. As you can see in the attached photo, all the caps are these new-looking...
