I don't know if the one I bought awhile back for my LC III is fake or not, but it seems to be recognized correctly by the system!
EDIT: I guess mine is probably fake, unless it was genuinely manufactured in 2008!
I think it just looks bigger because they're offset, with one next to the power brick, and the other looking particularly small enclosed in the styrofoam. Also the angle of the photo.
That's probably a safe assumption. And if you had a 512k at the time, you would probably have been to happy to have it, not just for the extra RAM accessibility, but also access to HFS without having to go through boot disk shenanigans like with the HD20. Even if you didn't have the 800k disk...
Have there been any developments at all in transferring items to the tashtari or the sd card via a modern Mac or PC? I recall that the original method revolved around using the Terminal to format and transfer a pre-made image.
The Lisa, Apple IIc, and Apple IIe, all used interchangeable mice, in addition to the 128k, 512k, and the Plus, although their designs all differed slightly. Doesn't help with the keyboard though.
Supposedly it's the fire retardant in the original plastic that leads to it aging poorly and becoming brittle. It's being omitted from the formulation of the new ones.
I had managed to find one back in February 2022 on eBay for $35 before t&s, but it was the only one left at the time iirc. The seller was "eclectrons" (though they seem to have changed their name to emlieproducts). A quick search just now on ebay reveals a couple of listings for the manual, but...
Congrats! I have one that was in similar shape, including leaves and debris inside, and a rusty backing plate. It's all cleaned up, although the keyboard membrane was also damaged, so many of the keys don't work properly. The membrane doesn't *appear* damaged, but obviously something's not...
It seems to be new as of the 3.3 Beta version, although if the Windows version doesn't have Disk-o-Matic at all, then yeah, it won't be available. In the MacOS version, a download button appears in the corner in place of the Create a Disk Image button when you select a file on the currently...
Are you familiar with DiskJockey? It's very cool. The author has plans I think for making it extra-versatile, but even as it stands, it's very handy:

Now, what would be nice, is finding a modern LCD solution for these and other PowerBooks. My own 540c's display is near-perfect, save for a couple very minor spots that have been there since I first got it in the early 2000s more than 20 years ago (eep!), but many are not so lucky...
