Macintosh II - Do you remember what it was like?

Sure I recall! For me the MacII was among the best Apple ever made. I could not afford a new one and when I finally could buy a used one, there was plenty of software for it. It was maxed out with PS2 RAM and a Daystar Universal Power Cache. Had a PLI SCSI HBA and ethernet card too. Some...

    Floppies are not dead...

Piles of 2DD floppies, he,he. I really had those, like many others here I presume. I even drilled holes in some to make them HD, it was working mostly. I sometimes regret giving away our Centris with the 601 upgrade card too. Maybe my MacII with the Daystar upgrade could have been fixed as...

    Floppies are not dead...

I see. Thanks for reading! Would have been too easy indeed. :) Apple File Exchange won't help either I presume, as it was a hardware related issue of the IWM. All Macs with the SWIM controller should be able to read the 1440k/720k floppies made in 10.8 with dd, right? I´ll tell my friend...

    Floppies are not dead...

During a correspondence with another member here, Max1zzz pointed me to the fact, that RAW images can be copied to floppy with dd rather simple. I wrote a first how to here: http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8208 On a second thought, I tried the same procedure with a 2DD...

    A Vintage PC...

Nice old school PC! If you wish, you can have IDE CD-ROM and HDD from my crap box. Shipping in the EU won´t cost a fortune. I gave away my last ISA SCSI HBA years ago, too bad. :( When I hear "DOS", Fusion PC 3.0 immediately springs to my mind - one of the best MacII emulators from my...

DroidMac, who will carry it on?

Sure, I pid Gil Osher too. Maybe he would take over, if some more people asked for a Basilisk II port for Android. I tried DroidMac on a Galaxy Tab 2, which I could borrow from my nephew. Could not get the emulator going. Neither from internal nor external SD. The tab´s file system looked...

DroidMac, who will carry it on?

Not exactly an 68kmla topic, but I found the long dead development blog just recently: http://droidmac.blogspot.de/ DoridMac is running on my smartphone, but its not running all my software. I wonder whether anybody here is willing and able to hoist it upon a more usable state :?: A...

9.1 CD not able to initialize hard drive

I recall a 7.5.3 CD floating around and I think it was not bootable, but only carried the disk images needed for installation. The first retail CD to boot Power Macs which I am aware of was 7.6. For your HDD, one never knows what the seller did with it before, Apple branded or not. I would...

    Mac emulation on Linux

Yes Gorgonops, I stand corrected. You are right of course. As I said, off topic - if I where the OP. I know Christian Bauer et al. developed on Mandrake/Mandriva back in the day. Mandriva 2010 still had the emulators in the repository, easy to set up. As of today, the OSX builds receive most...

    Mac emulation on Linux

As nobody named it: MiniVMac. Setup, if one can call it that, is like eating cake. OS are stable from 2.0 to 7.5 if you like b/w. :b&w: Not sure whether MiniVMacII has been ported to GNU/Linux. The Mac_II ASC emulation is still incomplete as far as I know. Off topic: If you have a T60...

128 mb of 72pin Ram - Remember, Back in 1994, What it cost?

Can´t even guess. :) But I know that two 16MB bricks were about DM 1700,- in early 1995. Healthy paychecks indeed. Simply by multiplication one might get to $ 1700 for 128MB, but then high capacity bricks had exponentially pricing.

Looking for 68k Program Called PicViewer

IIRC Picture Press had a viewer, that was not bad - even without DSP. http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/picture-press-25

Looking for 68k Program Called PicViewer

This one? Its D1-3.0, German localized, but I´ll mail a copy if nobody comes up with the US version. :) The program must have come with some QT System software. I don´t recall installing it stand alone.

    Mini vMac for Android

I don´t know nothing about iOS, but I think its vital to have root permissions for every device you got. "Jailbreaking" sounds so pathetically. There must be the choice to do with your pad or phone whatever you want, regardless whether the manufacturer likes that or not. I needed root...

    Mini vMac for Android

Thanks for the pointer, sometimes I´m too blind to see. :) I had MiniVMac II running on other hosts in the past. $2 for Gil Osher´s port is really a bargain. How do you read "Sound (Partially working)" at Google Play? My Galaxy 5´s screen is very small, so its barely usable for emulation...

    Mini vMac for Android

Well, this thread is dead in the water for some time... I only recently came across an Android cell phone and found this: http://dolfin.github.com/minivmac4android/ Monochrome is running perfectly including sound and keyboard. Could someone please review the needed steps to run MiniVMac in...

The Beige Knight Rises - PPC 7100/66

Quick removal was 80pin SCA mostly, I thought. There must be adapters with or without termination. If the drive in question was the last in the chain you will rather want one with termination, unless you dont mind a 50pin tail with a terminator on it. Such tails should better be avoided, but...

The Beige Knight Rises - PPC 7100/66

Congratulations and thanks for the screenshots! My A2000 PC-card had a dual ported memory feature (Janus) enabling mouse and keyboard switching to and from the PC card with Janus software. Was like walking through tar, but working. I would guess that orangemicro had a similar solution to tell...

The Beige Knight Rises - PPC 7100/66

Yours is not the 340, obviously. Looks like that one had a 80586 (with built in FPU). Still your card might fit in an (earlier) 3X0 series. If there is a VGA conector on the card, a seperate monitor should work instead of the multiport thing. Had a similar setup with my Amiga2000 and a 80386...
