Anybody use a Linux machine as their main desktop machine?

Ubuntu rocks (including other Linux distros). When Apple has abandoned your old machines, Linux is there. It's amazing to me that I can install a fully functional OS on machines that Apple doesn't care about anymore, with modern tools and browsers. Even better, depending on the disto (like...

    Transparent Mac SE

Bidding $25K for a Mac SE has nothing to do with balls. I would suggest that bidding $25K for an SE, regardless of history and a transparent case, is a matter of marbles. Confusing balls, marbles, and $25K is reason enough for at least 48 hours of psych evaluation in a respectable facility.

OS 9.2 - Memory to run well?

I also had "good" experiences with 192MB. When using Photoshop and similar memory intensive software, things worked better with 512MB or more. For years, I did a lot of professional work on a G3 with 576MB. That included Photoshop, Illustrator, and even Final Cut...

Just ordered an Apple TV for the family.

We moved last December and faced a similar situation... $120/month + tax for digital cable with no HD, or a $220 deposit + $80/month + tax for satellite. I found neither to be acceptable. We looked into Apple TV but instead bought an Acer Aspire Revo 3610 to use as an HTPC. Dual core Atom...
