Phew... After a long time with tons of work, I'm back again ;)
Glead to hear the discussion going on. I've had little time to keep twinkering on it, but here's an update/remainder of the state of my research:
•The card supplies a 640x870 (portrait) signal, no matter the sense code applied...
Hi! Sorry for being so late to chime in -- very busy going back to work :'(
Yup. It was here. It's a very sophisticated paperclip ;) but also the proof of concept that the ATX PSU can be soft-controlled by the IIsi... it's just a matter of placing an inverter between the /PFW line from the...
Hi all,
I purchased one of these -- with the sole intention of housing my maxed-out 7600 mobo ;)
However the original board and PSU work just fine and I could keep them for experiments... but now that I'm used to those beautiful, sparkling boards, this one looks filthy to me :disapprove...
Thanks to the amazing efforts of dougg3 and others on this group, I'm on the way of putting a "decent" display during the startup of a SE/30 with alternative ROM...
As specified on flickr's caption, that SE/30 has no disk drive at all -- floppy, HD or CD. Only the Jolly Roger ROM SIMM, which...
Is there such a thing? Searching these forums didn't show up anything valid, and the references I've found elsewhere didn't work -- I haven't been able to compile :(
Any app that works on a Mac (of whatever vintage, from SE/30 to iMac i5) is what I'm looking for... *nix and Win as a last...
YEAH!!! The Power Off INIT works great! 8-) It allows the standard shutdown command to toggle the PB2 line, as I needed for my soft power box -- works fine on both stock ROM and (ahem, ahem) upgraded clean ROM... thanks a BUNCH! ;)
That makes much more sense, yes. Fortunately, the...
Since I'd like to keep the hardware minimally modified, your idea of using a system extension in order to enable the soft-power VIA bit is more than adequate and I have to say a BIG THANK YOU!!!
Now, here come the bad news: it doesn't work on the SE/30 :( I tried first the "universal" second...
Hi all. Got a decent deal on these two HDs. They arrived physically well, but with marginal packing :(
Anyway, I formatted them (not low-level) using the patched version of Drive Setup 1.5 -- I did it first on the SE/30 running 7.5.5. Aware of the problems of large volumes with older Macs, I...
I've been thinking about this for a long time... my idea is to keep the SE/30 (or any other Mac without soft-power) permanently switched on, but plugged into an external switching box, which would be little more than a relay, a flip-flop and a tiny PSU for them.
This box needs two control lines...
Hi all,
I got a 5200 mobo for peanuts -- intended for a Takky mod. Like I do with any old mobo, I washed it, but still doesn't look that great...
Anyway, I've got the wiring harness, and the (mandatory?) ROM/L2 Cache SIMM so I hooked a known-good ATX PSU to the power connector (I know the...
Hi all,
I've got a couple of IIsi's -- case and mobo, but no disks or PSU. After washing, the MoBos work great (I used a Quadra 700 PSU on the bench) and I have several SCSI disks for them, but the IIsi Power Supply Unit seems very hard to get.
Any chance that another PSU (say, from a LC)...
OK, no box or drives, but...
•7600 mobo with 64 (16x4) MiB RAM and fully populated VRAM sockets. Includes speaker and A/V connectors board. I think I'm seeing a L2 cache card...
•Processor daughtercard for the above: 604 @ 120 MHz
•Power supply for the 7600 et al. This was the item I was...
Hi all!
After researching a bit, I'm still a bit confused about the subject... it's clear that both machines will work fine with 8 MB (eight 1 MB SIMMs) and that MODE32 is required in order to recognize larger amounts (32 bit addressing). But:
•My II is pretty stock -- no PMMU (has the Apple...
Just a few ideas... a couple of days ago we were talking about SCSI problems:
I think the aforementioned symptoms would arise if the SCSI chip was bad in the part that interfaces with the 68030 etc. But it could go wrong in many ways. Still not sure if it's the culprit, but my first, just...
Hi all,
The last days have been very good for my 68k collection... among a Mac II, a Colour Classic and a much lusted (for decades!) Apple Portrait Display, I got my second SE/30!
Looks great, boots fine (has 7.0 in a Quantum LPS40), sounds loud and clear so it may take some time before...
