I'm guessing that's a deformed PCR roller. I had replaced the wiper blade in a 98A cartridge and had the same symptoms. I took the PCR roller from another cartridge and swapped it in and my prints are now 100% perfect - like a brand new printer (LaserWriter 16/600 PS)
Now I know way more about...
After replacing every other capacitor in the printer with no discernible improvement in print quality, I think you may be right. I haven't found a source for replacement wiper blades for that particular cartridge... and I've tried a few "new old stock" replacement cartridges that exhibit either...
They do have PSU issues. Even a NOS replacement PSU had leaky caps.
See my write-up here:

I think there are other leaking caps throughout the printer, I'll update that thread as I make progress. Also the...
Hi all, I thought somebody might find this helpful as I've seen a few "dead personal laserwriter" posts here.
I have a couple Personal LaserWriter NT guys that are at different stages of dead. When I received them, neither one would power up. I found a new old stock replacement PSU on eBay that...
Found this long-dead thread searching for UPS Trackpad because I just received a Newton 2MB PCMCIA flash card that, when put into the card slot of a Newton, will install the UPS TrackPad software such that the software is "bootstrapped" as mentioned in the original post. I'm going to keep the...
Hi all,
I've just repaired another Newton and thought to take a picture and write it up.
This one was completely dead, I got it on eBay for ~$35.
When I got it, I opened it up and saw that somebody else already tried to repair it but they left it pretty messy. There was electrolyte fluid all...
Yes, that is the fuse I needed to replace. If it has continuity, it's probably fine. If you haven't replaced those capacitors around the hybrid IC (C7, C15-16, C24-28, etc) then you need to, 99% certain. Also I'd avoid giving this motherboard any power at all until you've replaced those...
The Makerbot filament "Warm Gray" is the closest thing I've seen to the original Macintosh color. It's not perfect, but better than white or grey.

I'm also curious about this.... has anybody tried this with success? What technique was used to seal the screen? I have a PB170 with minor tunneling and if this is possibly fixable I'll give it a try.
I have an Apple Extended Keyboard II and the caps lock key latch is broken. It's a tiny piece of plastic that slides in place when the caps lock key is depressed once and slides out of place when it is depressed again, thus latching the key in a locked position when the caps lock is enabled...
I see. But also if the only way these PBs know the charge level is via the voltage output, it might not charge 6 cells properly or fully anyway - right?
Ah, your explanation makes perfect sense and makes me feel a lot more comfortable about using six cells. Did you also take the klixon from the original battery pack?
Hmm... I know I can fit 6 cells in there, but it seems a bit ill-advised - I don't know enough about the voltage regulator. Are you sure that won't burn anything out? I'm completely ignorant in this area, I'm just afraid of destroying something that's difficult to repair.
I have the opposite...
