    I didn't know that..

Yep, good ole c-shell and vi. I normally use sh being that I'm an East Coast unix guy. About 10 years ago I attended a shell programming course at Sun Microsystems and switched to c-shell for the most part. At my age it's hard to pick up new skills. 8-)

    I didn't know that..

Sorry, I'm getting a little long winded here, but it has been a long day.. So far I've seen these outputs for uptime in NetBSD 1.6.2 (The version I'm using). 9:55AM up 1 min, 1 user, load averages: 0.11, 0.12, 0.14 10:55AM up 1 hr, 1 user, load averages: 0.11, 0.12, 0.14 12:00PM up 6 days...

Whitening a yellowed IICI: first step.

I sandblasted the yellow off a Classic II, Mac Plus and Q700. Works better then sandpaper. It leaves the surface a little rough but surprisingly you can actually smooth it out by just rubbing it with your hand. Only downside is you loose the lettering. It would be possible to re-letter it...

AsanteFast NuBus 10/100 on OS 8.6 or 9.1?

I have a couple AsanteFast 10/100 NuBus cards. I know it worked fine on OS 8.1 in both an 8100 and 7100 with G3 upgrades. It also worked fine on my Q700 under 7.6.1 with a 33MHZ upgrade. I'll have a look at my 8100 because I'm not real certain what OS I'm running now. I know I didn't do...

    640x480 sucks!

I had the Supermac Thunder II in my 8100 and it wasn't as fast as the PDS video card. I think it's because Nubus is so much slower then the PDS. The Thunder II left window artifacts all over the screen if I moved them too fast. Did you get the PDS adapter for your sonnet card? It will allow...

    OS/2 Warp 4!

As a multitasking operating system OS/2 was quite a bit better then Windows 95. If IBM could have marketed it there would have been drivers and popular applications. They couldn't get hardware manufactures to write drivers and software developers to write software. That's what killed OS/2. I...

    OS/2 Warp 4!

Ok, Sorry to confuse you. I've used OS/2 since 2.1

    OS/2 Warp 4!

I have eCs 1.2.. I've used warp since 2.1. The reason Warp 4 wasn't popular is IBM had already announced the end of life for OS/2 before they released Warp 4. The last servicepack for Warp 4 will bring you to Warp 4.51. As far as being anything like Windows 95 it was quite a bit better. As...

    IDE to CF Drive adapter.

Thanks for the tip on dealextreme. Their prices were cheap enough I bought a bunch of different ones just in case. Free shipping too. I'll let ya'll know how it works out. I can always use the CF memory in my camera if all else fails. Are SD cards better then CF cards when used as drives...

    FTP anonymous file server.

I'm using an old version, 1.6 of NetBSD and I'm having a devil of a time setting up an anonymous ftp server. I've read the man pages on ftpd, ftpd.conf, ftpchroot, inetd, inetd.conf and ftpusers. I can ftp using a normal user but can't get anonymous to work. Do I make a user called guest or...

Asanté Ethernet to SCSI - Power adapter question

Doesn't the 180 use a HDI30 Scsi connector instead of the 25 pin on the Asante EN/SC?

    IDE to CF Drive adapter.

The Acard SCSI->IDE adapter is meant to mount on the back of a 3.5" IDE hard drive. The SCSI ribbon plugs into the Acard. I guess I can just engineer the Acard to sit horizontally. I was going to mount the CF drive in the floppy bay so I could remove it, but the Q605 case is so easy to...

    IDE to CF Drive adapter.

Anyone have a source for an IDE to CF adapter. The ones I've found use a right angle connector that would make the CF card sit too high to close the lid on my Quadra 605. The ones I found that work are the 44pin IDE like a laptop drive. I have the SCSI to IDE adapter.
