Hi Phil,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've created a number of pulseview captures of the Apple IIgs' interactions with the attiny (8Mhz sample rate), I've only captured the clock, data and enable pins - I hope that's enough?, lmk if you need more info.
The captures show machine...
Hi Phil,
Sure I can capture some traces on the IIGS, my analyser is a cheap USB dongle so it's not high speed. Do you want me to capture the data and clock for both mains powered and battery ?
Also I compiled a build with EEPROM store enabled, but I noticed that although it allowed changing the...
Agreed, I'm pretty sure the Samsung Monitor is the reason behind the colour issue as the Quadra works fine on other monitors.
I'll be sure to pick up one of your convertors when they are released to replace my current beat up dongle.

Hi @bigmessowires
I would love to test this, as I have 2 'not so great' VGA solutions for the following machines:
IIGS (Rom 0) - US
IIGS (Rom 1) - UK
Performa 630
Quadra 700
I currently use the IIGS with a home made VGA cable and GBS8800 (to convert the Sync) with a Samsung Syncmaster 940...
@pgreenland
Sorry for the tardy response. Its been a while but tonight I managed to find some free time to investigate the AtTinyRTC in my Apple IIGS. And I now know the cause of the issue.
I connected up my logic analyser to the Tinys pin 1 - for the '1Sec' signal. With the original apple RTC...
I'm happy to have a play around here.
I actually have two IIGS' I purchased the second to replace the one with the faulty clock chip, and then found it had its own problems ;-).
I must admit I don't full understand the relationship between the settings (pram?) store part of the chip and clock...
I have an update. Good and Bad news.
I purchased a T48 programmer from Amazon, in anticipation of its arrival I soldered a DIP8 socket to my IIGS board ready to add in the tiny85.
I completed the soldering I thought I'd just try the original Apple 3440042B chip in the socket - and it worked...
Thanks you both for the replies.
@pgreenland - Yes I saw the requirement around the high voltage programmer, I don't expect that I will reprogram once I get the code loaded.Even if the chip is not accurate it will be better than the non-functioning unit previously in the machine - where only...
Hi @Phipli
I purchased this board from eBay :
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256065573077
The only other boards I have are NodeMcu V3 ESP8266 's.
I did see a number of article on using an Arduino to program the board using ISP. Which is the best option here? Arduino or a TL866?
I did need an...
Hi All,
The clock in my Apple IIGS failed and I traced the issue to the same RTC chip as used in early Macs. While looking for a replacement IC I found this awesome project. So I purchased 2 x Tiny85's and USB programmer of eBay ready to test the ATTinyRC in a IIGS.
After a bit of a struggle...
