Yep, but not necessarily. ISTR someone finding a harness differential in upgrading a P5200 AIO to Q630 in the last year or so?
The NuBus ->PCI architecture shift on the 630 drawer machines changed things dramatically on both harness and PSU fronts.
Take heed, this subject has come up before so use the search function.
Form factors are pretty much identical across desktops and AIOs. FuglyTowers have a second slot in the PCI era, so that's a differentiation you're not facing.
PSU, Case and Harness cannot be assumed to be compatible when...
Not just neat, they missed the Killer App of the Consumer Mac/Performa era doldrums.
Given a cheap 320x240**** webcam/microphone, AOL era grandparents would have eaten up regularized teleconferencing over dialup with the kids and grandkids no matter how slow the frame rate, especially on a...
Wasn't great, but at the consumer level nothing was where it existed at all. Tons of fun to play with. Worked a treat using Timbuktu Remote to take clips to confirm visually that my my plotte and its job server at the shop had or had not yet finished a long run. If the vinyl was still on track...
Just about any laptop Zip drive mechanism should work, in any PB module I think. Most of mine in 'Books and others are now Zip250 which won't click AFAIK.
You can thank another member/friend from early on in the history of the MLA. I fear he is no longer with us, so keep this bit of lore alive...
No problem, so to speak. Look for old Dell Zip250 drive modules to cannibalize. Only drawback to that fix would be the VST bezel becoming wildly underrated. ;)
And you never will, NuBus itself bottlenecks performance. Machine doesn't matter and the comparisons on LEM were made almost two decades ago by folks who didn't understand bottlenecks vis a vis NuBus, processor bus nor QuickDraw Acceleration for that matter. ;)
I meant a thread here in hacks to point to such repositories for such projects and the threads that bred them. Kinda like may ancient jt's hacks thread. 😜
@max1zzz any progress to report, ETA for ProtoBoards?
You have so many projects going it would be great if you could do a Max's Bench thread listing links to any that are publicly posted. I'll bet I'm not the only one who can't keep track of your work. You never know where someone might come up...
ISTR linking to a DRAM expansion card that might be a great target for reproduction. I vaguely recollect that it was done by the Masters of Memory at Connectix?
edit: nope, hardware wizards at NewerTech...
Beautiful!, very nice find. Enjoy your playtime with it. VidCap at the consumer level was pretty neat back in the Quadra 630 day and remained so into the PPC generation. Is that the Presentation System video out port I spy?
I used one as my TV for a while when I was turning the kitchen corner...
I'm hoping one of out resident boffins might start a new topic, taking up the quest to graft your board onto an intersticial 040 PGA carrier card. That'll be a real doozy.😜
IIRC, I/O line availability limits of FPGA boards for PDS implementation was a major factor covered in the previous thread? Does your setup have enough lines available to support a PDS implementation?
< unimplemented tangent mode >
If so, once NuBus up and running you might find one particular...
Yep, NuBus runs at 10MHz, slower than even the Mac II system bus. It was plenty fast enough with the simple Toby Frame Buffer Card when the II was new, but quickly fell behind. Early onboard Mac Video can be considered a forerunner of the ISA world's VLB in the 486 era.
Unless @Melkhior has...
