Thanks for the advice! Checked the connections, still nothing. I guess the problem is with the screen itself rather than the cables.

It appears that the screen on my 5300cs has gone, the screen is backlit but nothing appears. The brightness/contrast buttons don't seem to respond. Does anyone know what the problem could be? http://img518.imageshack.us/my.php?image=5300nf4.jpg
