Macintosh Plus screen slowly drifting horizontally to the left

Thanks very much alexGS for that tip about the video pin. Next time I'm working on the Macintosh Plus I'll certainly check that out and take your advice to completely de-solder the pin before resoldering. My batteries fit perfectly and didn't really need the 'fattening' I mentioned once...

Macintosh Plus screen slowly drifting horizontally to the left

Thanks alexGS for that really interesting and useful information. I haven't had my old MacPlus on for long enough to decide if it continues to drift to the left. So it may be that, as you suggest, it will stabilise after a short while. I'll give it a try and see if it stays put in that...

Macintosh Plus with BlueSCSI - how best to create original 800K System Disk floppies?

I have a Macintosh Plus 4GB booting into OS 7.1 from a BlueSCSI V2 emulator and working fine. However, although I’m reasonably computer literate on modern Macs I know nothing about many aspects of the older Macintoshes. I want to create the original 800K system disks for either 7.1 or 6.0.8 so...

Please identify this electrolytic capacitor or a replacement.

Thank you. I really appreciate your help with this. Never did anything with SMB components before.

Please identify this electrolytic capacitor or a replacement.

Thank you very much for that info. The Amazon ones are SMD - can I just solder some wire leads to them? Sorry, you'll have guessed by now how little I know.

Please identify this electrolytic capacitor or a replacement.

I found these on Amazon UK. Higher voltage rating but that might be okay. Would these be a decent replacement? https://tinyurl.com/bdfrspn6 Thanks!

Please identify this electrolytic capacitor or a replacement.

I think I understand. The capacitor is 5mm high so I would guess the footprint is about 2.5mm. There's quite a bit of space where it broke off so fitting an alternative, bigger or smaller, shouldn't be an issue. Thanks!

Please identify this electrolytic capacitor or a replacement.

Thank you all for your responses. I've seen some surface mount equivalents online but not this type. Can anyone offer a link to a replacement, preferably in Ireland or the EU. Thanks!

Please identify this electrolytic capacitor or a replacement.

This tiny 5mm high electrolytic capacitor broke off a 30+ year old MicroMac PerformerPro accelerator card for a Macintosh Plus computer. I’m not an engineer and the only label on the capacitor is the info on the top (see attached image) - 22, 6A, 5G3. The capacitor still has a decent size lead...

Discovered MicroMac PerformerPro 68030 accelerator card inside Macintosh Plus - help?

Thank you very much, SparrowRat. Would you believe I just discovered that utility last evening and today managed to install it on my Macintosh Plus. I wasn't sure if I could just drag the drivers across to the MacPlus and have them work. I really know so little about the vintage Macs and how...

Discovered MicroMac PerformerPro 68030 accelerator card inside Macintosh Plus - help?

Thanks Phipli, for that info and for the Zip file. I understand that Basilisk II is some kind of Macintosh Emulator that I should be able to run on my modern Mac, and hopefully I'll be able to understand about the attachment of that ROM file. I'll post details of how I do. Like I said, a...

Discovered MicroMac PerformerPro 68030 accelerator card inside Macintosh Plus - help?

Thank you once again, Phipli - the informed to the rescue of the ignorant. But don’t underestimate the extent of my ignorance. I understand your suggestions and they seem really clear. But I have those driver files on my modern Mac running MacOS 13.5. I have .hda System OS boot files on...

Discovered MicroMac PerformerPro 68030 accelerator card inside Macintosh Plus - help?

I have a vintage Macintosh Plus recently removed from long-term storage. It seems to be working well and I added a BlueSCSI emulator which boots fine into Systems 6 and 7. When I opened up the Mac to modify the logic board with a resistor enabling SCSI power to the BlueSCSI I discovered that...
