Red Ryder used to be a very popular shareware terminal package. I still have a floppy around here with v5.0. It's primitive (non-scrolling window), but it runs somewhat on my PB520 with System 7.0.2. It locks up the system when you quit.
There's an old kermit for the Mac. I have 0.9(40) on...
Back in the dark ages (1984), there were precious few ways to write software for the Mac on the Mac. Apple wanted you to develop on a Lisa. Mac Pascal was an interpreter. Mac Basic was killed by Microsoft. I bought one of the few available options - MacForth. As I recall, it's a decent...
I'm a fan of Logitech optical mice. My current favorite is an MX Revolution wireless. The tracking is excellent, the batteries last a while, and the scroll wheel has a better feel than that on any other mouse I've tried. Plus it has this switchable mode where the scroll wheel spins freely up...
In 1984 Apple offered credit cards for students to purchase Macintoshes. That was the only way I was able to buy one. I was one of those who bought based on the Mac's amazing potential. We said it was "the first computer worthy of criticism." Mine cost $1800 plus $600 for the printer and...
My first Mac was an original 128K with a single 400K floppy. I once loaded MacWrite and tried to open a document on a second floppy. I counted about 40 disk swaps before I gave up and rebooted. I suspect MacWrite was trying to make a backup copy and didn't have enough free RAM to do a proper...
Think Pascal is available from pascal-central.com. Also, if you Google for "think pascal", you'll get a link to Ingemar's page with instructions to install the patch necessary to run on more recent versions of MacOS.
I'm developing a compiler using Think Pascal, running under MacOS 10.4, even...
I was able to get my PB520 working with a 1.3A@15V power supply from a cable modem (free). I cut the connector off of the dead original power supply and wired the orange/red wires to +15V; the black wire and braid go to ground. The blue wire is not connected.
IIRC the PB520 will run on any...
On a recent episode of "Chuck", they used a compact Mac as the console for the new Intersect. It even had the classic keyboard and mouse. I had a good chuckle when I saw that. :b&w:
FYI - Someone posted on comp.sys.mac.codewarrior saying CW 6.0 was the last version that supported 68K code generation.
EDIT - Someone else mentioned that the 68K plug-ins could be manually installed on CW 7.0. I guess you knew that.
Think Pascal is available for free on http://www.pascal-central.com/ or http://www.lysator.liu.se/~ingemar/tp45d4/think.html . Or do a Google search for "ingemar think pascal".
I'm using ThP for a personal project. Documentation isn't generally available, but I was able to buy a set on...
Patrickool93 : Hi, My boss and a few co-workers are from Ohio. It seems a popular place to be from :) .
macintoshme: I understand that Think C has a better debugger than gdb, MPW, or CodeWarrior.
At least as early as version 5.0, Think C supported object-oriented programming. It's not a full implementation of C++, but it would be a good place to start. Or you might try MPW.
