Asanté EN/SC-10T on PowerBook 1400cs/166 with Mac OS 7.6.1?

Yes, that's possible.  FTP can be a real pain in the you know what to get working  if there is a firewall in the way.  Try using netscape instead and visit http://www.google.com and see what you get.  The rendering probably won't be perfect as it's an old browser - but if the bridge is working...

Asanté EN/SC-10T on PowerBook 1400cs/166 with Mac OS 7.6.1?

Yes there's a reason. The installer won't allow the install without it.  I guess it does a quick hardware check to see what type of en/sc is connected.  Perhaps there is a slight difference and it configures settings slightly differently or something depending upon which type you have?  In any...

Asanté EN/SC-10T on PowerBook 1400cs/166 with Mac OS 7.6.1?

You can get the En/sc to work but it's tricky.  First get the driver off the asante page on archive.org, as asante has gotten rid of the link for the download. Second... Hook it up, boot the machine with the power and ethernet cable, scsi cable connected already. Boot with extensions off - hit...

LCIII problem after a recap schematics required

I was having the same problem as you... see my thread below.  I had to wash the board 5 different times to get it to work.  I also discovered pin 50 bent, touching pin 49 on the cpu, which was causing an issue.  So look for something similar - maybe in another ic, etc...  Also...  Once I...

636CD, 7.5.3, Asanté brick? (mb better in Quadra sec?)

Well... Do you have a program to establish a connection to another computer?  You can connect via http (netscape), ftp (fetch), or to another apple file server on another connected mac.  You might also need to configure your network settings in the TCP/IP control panel. If you're still lost  -...

    Ethernet, the search

Is this topic like:  Spaceballs, the Movie?  lol.  Sorry, couldn't help myself. Looks like an en/sc just closed on ebay this morning.  Did you look for "en/sc"?  Are you sure you did your search right?  $26.00 is a sure cry from $200.  See this link...

LCIII restored - It's Alive! + Questions for uniserver and people that know stuff

Nah.  I don't believe in overclocking.  IMO, the extra heat isn't worth it, especially for a vintage item.  I'd rather keep them as cool as possible to keep them functioning as long as possible.  I know I'm odd man out here, but...  what can I say... I've always held the opinion that if I needed...

    Personal LaserWriter NT

You could try to restore it.  First thing - replace all of the caps on the board and the power supply.  Then go from there.  Maybe the laser isn't working at full power because of bad caps?  That might explain the light printing.  It also might explain dark toner on the paper.  toner goes onto...

LCIII restored - It's Alive! + Questions for uniserver and people that know stuff

Yeah.  I was really lucky I think.  Thanks uniserver for your help.  I looked at that cpu like 4 times.  I can't believe I overlooked that! I think I will eventually - just to keep it running cooler to help it last longer... hopefully.  I've already got the thermal paste from a previous...

Anyone have a Focus EtherLAN SC-T?

If Focus is the name of the company and they're out of business, maybe you could find an archived version of their website at www.archive.org and hopefully find something? Alternatively, you really just have to use common sense and logic and just "figure it out".  Does one of the pins...

LCIII restored - It's Alive! + Questions for uniserver and people that know stuff

Thanks techknight.  I think you're right.  Uniserver and I were also half-right! Well last night, I was concerned so I looked up the motorola 68030 cpu datasheet.  I was looking up the max temperature ratings, to get an idea of what i should expect with a normally working cpu...  I happened to...

Macintosh IIci gives chimes of death; memory trouble?

Try the simms in a different mac if you have one.  Or replace them - maybe with something smaller just for testing purposes.  Also - have you had your power supply recapped?  Unstable power could be causing your problems, perhaps.  If the voltage isn't high enough, or there is too much ripple...

LCIII restored - It's Alive! + Questions for uniserver and people that know stuff

That's the challenge!  Where?? Thank you Uniserver.  Really appreciated.  I tried cooking the board to remove any water left over - just in cse - but there was no change to the problem.  Interesting.  Most of my values were comparable to yours +- 0.10 volts.  Except C13 and C2 which both have...

LCIII restored - It's Alive! + Questions for uniserver and people that know stuff

I did that...  without the 4mb simm, it still gets hot.  A human thermometer went all the way up to 108 degrees f.  I had to stop it there to keep the thermometer from breaking.  So it's at least 108deg f.  Weird.  I didn't remember it getting that warm.  Just slightly warm but not like this...

LCIII restored - It's Alive! + Questions for uniserver and people that know stuff

My LCIII is running once again!  Had lots of issues with this one, bad caps (obviously), a short on the +5 volt rail, and all that electrolytic stuff to clean up.  This one just didn't want to start. First it was cleaned, and new caps for the board and power supply.  Nothing (except hdd turn on...
