Brightness pot is probably getting a little worn out and the wiper is not making good contact. I have a Monitor II doing the same thing. Jiggling the knob usually brings it back. Could also be old solder joints (easy fix, just reflow the joints).
If the pot is on it's way out, not much you can...
Ask, and ye shall recieve! I have more to add...and in a more user-friendly format. If I could (hint, hint) edit my inital post, I would do the same to that.
(Although, it seems you cannot wrap URL tags around image tags...)
I was curious about that video adapter, so I figured, why not throw...
I would have made them much smaller, but I figured most people would feel like JDW:
And in fact, on my end, this is what happens too:
So they are thumbnailed, in effect. But perhaps not everyone's system is the same. I apologize for that, but at the same time, I tried to warn you in the title...
Fortunately, if I do come across one, it's not a big job to pop it back open and re-install the device. For now, I don't need it flopping around in there. :)
From what I can tell, the board is plugged into sockets where the ROMs would go. So I think it's safe to say the originals are gone...
Long story short, I scored a 128k for my collection, which I've been wanting for awhile. $100, and local, so not a bad deal, but not great. I probably wouldn't have paid that much, but this one sparked my interest for a particular reason.
Sooo...Show and Tell time!!
Here it is...looking very...
Solved!!!
Sort of...
I finally managed to acquire a (much coveted) SE/30, and I tried to get an A/UX install going on that, and it got me right through to the partition screen no problem. So it would seem that something about my IIsi is causing the problem...but what, I wonder...?
Agreed. With the number of different discs and images and media I've used, I think I can rule that out.
My list of things to rule out is:
1) Hardware (ie. IIsi)
2) Drive (CD 300)
3) SCSI Voodoo
4) Disk images (CD and floppy)
I think I've eliminated 2 and 3, since the discs are readable in...
beachycove: Alberta, so...that probably won't work...thanks though...
Blinkenlightz: I had a spindle full of I don't know what kind of CD-Rs, which I tried at the lowest speed my computer can do (4x). Then I picked up some Sony CD-Rs, not sure on the size, I think 700 MB. I'll have to see if I...
Well, no joy with that solution...seems like it's having trouble booting the Kernel. Trying the 'verbose' option yields nothing. Freezes in the same spot.
I'll keep playing...but any other suggestions are welcome. :beige:
OK, got something different...I tried 4 different boot floppy images, and as many different burned ISOs...no different. So I just booted with a plain boot floppy with CD ROM extension and ran the A/UX installer manually. I managed to get a shell window up of sorts with this message...
I'll try that...does your installation resemble my video up until the point that it stops? (ie. Does your progress bar on the loading screen jump backwards a bit...I don't know if that's normal behavior or not)
Don't know how I could verify them without an MD5 code...in any case, I've downloaded a couple different install images and burned them to multiple discs...same thing. :-/
Good suggestion...gave that a try...same result. :(
Interestingly enough, this problem sounds identical to mine: http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3836
Seems like the problem in that case was a SCSI bus issue, but I'm almost certain there's nothing wrong with my setup...it's...
