Color Classic on the left has a purplish hue (CC on the right shown for reference purposes). Also, not sure if related, but the Brightness slider in the Screen control panel appears to have no effect on the display.
Anyone fixed this before? Is it a cap issue or something else?

That is, perhaps, my favorite of the Compact Macs. I have a recapped Color Classic with the Apple IIe emulation board. "Working" on a Mystic and a Takky to complete the set.

Thanks for these thoughts! The externally-facing machine doesn't need to directly support SCSI -- it's enough for that machine to behave well on the Internet and then pass the files off to an older machine. Beige PPC Mac seems to be the machine of choice for the "middle machine!"

My iSub has begun emitting a whine. Confirmed it was the iSub by unplugging it. tested to see if it was hardware related by muting from the control panel. That also caused the the whine to stop.

@beachycove has the right approach to this! I struggled with the "official" process. CCC 3.4.7 (the version Macintosh Garden links to for use in the process) wouldn't mount the disk image downloaded from MG's site. I checked the DMG with Disk Utility and it was not corrupt.
