This is actually a relevant thread. If you look at all the free help offered on NTLK list over the years... in relation to all that free help in the Newton community, Newton developers still in existence that charge for their software are a tad greedy.
Browsing on the 1400 when connecting with an Ethernet card via the PC Card slot is always going to be slow, because it is a 16 bit card cage. I know there is an internal ethernet option and I believe that is the fastest way, but not wireless.
The PowerBook Wallstreet is much faster in this...
These upgrade cards, their speeds, the differences between them, etc. is probably the most well documented of the powerbook upgrades out there.

Mail is going rough for me right now. I am getting help from NTLK, and that has been great. I can't say enough good things about Ron Parker and Simon Bell. It does not like Yahoo or Gmail, although US based Yahoo Plus should work. Try Mail V.

As for advice, the Newton is great, but takes a LONG time and a lot of patience to learn and get working properly. Once we have a proper knowledgebase site working, that clearly details how to get up and running, it will take some time until you have conquered the device.
