    Mac Plus and HD20

I specifically no longer use my two Macintosh Plus as I have been unable to track down a FannyMac / System Saver. The Plus ran too hot when it was released and with 4mb of ram running it without a fan is going to crack those 30 year old solder joints. for the hard drive unfortunately could be...

Opening / Extracting a Damaged HyperCard Stack

Hey all, I've been working on a preservation project consisting of 400 and 800k Floppy Disks from the 80s. Unfortunately, one issue I keep coming across are damaged disks. Recently I came across a weird one and was hoping for some help. Attached is a zip file containing the Disk Image for...

How many floppy drives can a SWIM chip control? (just curious)

SE can control 3 (2 internal and 1 external) without an issue.

    MacTablet...maybe not.

Hey Elbaroni! Apologies for the thread necro but I have a MacTablet without software. By chance did you ever make a copy of the software?

StuffIt 5.5 doesn't always extract .sit files fully

I’ve been working with a lot of 1985 programs lately and it’s interesting how many programs have weird “poor” coding and only work on certain System versions.

StuffIt 5.5 doesn't always extract .sit files fully

I think it's amusing when new uploads are still compressed for some reason. I've been doing all of my preservation uploads in the .dsk format with a system folder installed. That provides direct compatibility to all 3 emulators. From there if someone wants to extract just the software it's as...

Help Needed: Early Macintosh Software (1980's) 400k / 800k Preservation Project

I was able to come across the year 2000 Drexel CD and dumped the ISO: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkkpUPH6Hu9Xo75FOvVyIncXlekzCA?e=oNTowp My suspicion that it was a continuation of the old Drexel Disk was confirmed and it turns out every year they made iterative changes!

StuffIt 5.5 doesn't always extract .sit files fully

100%! In some cases I've started to go back and extract .SIT images and converting the entire image to .DSK files. It's absurd that something like Word 1.05 is in a .SIT that can only be unpacked by a Mac running 8.1

StuffIt 5.5 doesn't always extract .sit files fully

No it’s justified. it’s extremely frustrating for arbitrary changes to have so much version incompatibility in comparison to say Winrar.

Help Needed: Early Macintosh Software (1980's) 400k / 800k Preservation Project

That works as well! (.iso would probably be best as living the windows life) I’m honestly not concerned with the physical media just trying to get everything digital before it’s lost.

Help Needed: Early Macintosh Software (1980's) 400k / 800k Preservation Project

This is a DrexelCD! Which is the successor to the Drexel Disk! This one is specifically targeted to the Medical students but this is invaluable as Drexel was copying and pasting year over year. So while I doubt it's HyperCard based it's amazing! Can I buy this off of you to dump the image for...

Help Needed: Early Macintosh Software (1980's) 400k / 800k Preservation Project

Haha, What's interesting is that I was able to find a catalog for the successor to Kinko's ACE: https://vintageapple.org/catalogs/pdf/Intellimation_Library_For_The_Macintosh_Spring_1993.pdf

Help Needed: Early Macintosh Software (1980's) 400k / 800k Preservation Project

Hey all! Link to 26 Programs Recovered (Drexel University, Oregon State University and Dartmouth) Over the last few months I have been working on a personal preservation project to document and capture early Macintosh software that was written in the educational space. As of writing this I...

    800k floppy read-write with Greaseweazel + FluxEngine = Success!

Fluxengine installed! (Thanks for the help so far!) this worked! The Greaseweazle was able to read the disks via flux engine without issue.

    800k floppy read-write with Greaseweazel + FluxEngine = Success!

Using the code provided in Kyroflux Command: C:\...\Desktop\kryoflux_3.00_windows\dtc\DTC.exe prydwen:gw cheesey$ fluxengine read macintosh -s C:\Mac2.scp -o Mac2.diskcopys It threw back a Syntax error: prydwen:gw Should I be using Fluxengine and not the Kyroflux engine from the Github? (I...
