I have the same problem with my current LCD screen - a 20" IBM ThinkVision L201p. Tons of wavy lines on a cold boot, but then it goes away (the lines are more aggressive on startup when the 8.24 GC card is left in accelerated mode).
Interestingly, the lines are not as bad when using my...
This may come across as a ridiculous question (as I’ve owned an 8.24 GC card for over 10 years now), but what exactly is the difference between the 8.24 GC control panel and the Monitors control panel that came with System 7.1? I never installed any extensions or software for my 8.24 GC in the IIfx.
Tried a bunch of different Super VGA drivers for Win 3.1 and none of them worked (monitor would be blank, garbled, or would hang at the Win 3.1 splash screen).
I’m still unsure if this is an 8.24 GC issue or if my particular OrangePC card is simply incompatible with different VGA drivers (as...
Used the install.exe file in the SB16 folder to reinstall the SB-2770 drivers in Win 3.1. All is good now:
I did notice on startup that there is a line about a corrupt CTCM file. Not sure what that is about:
Still need to find a proper 256 color driver that won’t hang Win 3.1 and fix the color...
Running into another sound issue in Win 3.1, this time it’s with Chip’s Challenge in the Best of Entertainment Pack:
When I open MIDI Mapper in the Win 3.1 Control Panel, I get this error in Chip’s Challenge:
Not sure what is going on here. I really don’t want to mess with the MIDI settings...
Tried messing around with the video drivers currently installed in 3.1. The only one that works reliably and doesn't leave a garbled mess is VGA (Version 3.0). Hoyle was designed to run on 256 colors (first Sierra title to do so).
Adjust to what specifically?
So the sound for Hoyle Classic can only be heard through the IIfx’s internal speaker for some reason and only when the volume on the game’s controller is set to max. It’s horrendous to say the least. Color is still pooched. I wonder if I downloaded a bum copy of the game?
Yes. Here’s the entire package:
I would imagine so, but I can’t confirm where it is located in Win 3.1. The only thing that shows up in Drivers is all of the Sound Blaster/audio stuff:
I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case. The HD I have in the IIfx is a 230MB Quantum drive, which has never...
Just installed The Best of Microsoft Entertainment Pack so I could play FreeCell and Tetris on the 486, amongst other classics.
For some reason, I had a difficult time running Hoyle Classic Card Games on the IIfx. I have the original Mac disks (this is the 1993 version) and the program would...
