When you installed OS 9 to the hard drive over FW, did you check that OS 9 drivers were installed on the Power Mac's drive? The Mac OS 9 installer should update the driver when you install, but maybe it didn't update correctly, causing it to get corrupted somehow? Can you use another, blank...

Unless you did something extra special, Classic Mac OS doesn't support anything other than USB 1.1. It will support USB 2.0 peripherals (as you've seen), but it will always run them at USB 1.1 speeds, even on hardware that otherwise supports higher 2.0 speeds. c

OK, no rush! I've been sitting on these parts for, I think, 10 to 15 years now (they're leftovers from when I built my nicely equipped, good condition Pismo (with working batteries!)), so another few days/weeks/months won't matter too much :) c
