I have a 575 with no logic board, and would be very interested in the Micromac board if you have not sold it yet? I was wondering if it would be possible to re-create one with an edge connector to allow for a non destructive upgrade, or at least photograph and document the part since there is...
I use a 32gb hyperdisk disk on module from eBay in my Performa 5400 and it's been bulletproof. I'd highly recommend one. You need female to female versions of both IDE and molex power cables to be able to connect the module to the edge connector inside this series of machine.
I use a Hyperspec disk on module in my 5400, it's been rock solid for about 2 years now. I've also tried a Silicon Image PCI SATA combo card to run a proper SSD, but it became unstable I suspect due to low power output from the analog board. The latter could perhaps be an issue to look in to on...
Would any PCIe cards work with an os9 machine? What product would provide this bridge functionality? I've looked at the Magma PCI expansion chassis but haven't seen any other options.
The two machines use the same logic board so I expect the hack will work.
A firewire, usb and sata card would be very nice - in fact i have one coming for my 5400.
Why not get the dual pci riser from a 6400/6500 and try to shoehorn a second PCI card in there too?
I've just changed my SE/30 over to the Noctua. Using an SPL meter placed just in front of the Mac, the old Elina fan produced 49dB, while the Noctua has dropped it to 42dB. It's not just quieter, it's also a more pleasant white noise, rather than the more mechanical noise of the old fan.
During...
I've been wondering the same and have seen the Noctua a6x25 flx recommend. I've got one sitting waiting to go in, hopefully will have it done in the next day or so. Original fan puts out about 40db noise from my measurements, while the Noctua is rated for about 20db, I'll see what the results...
Thanks for the advice, I've had it in the solution for a fair few hours and the metal is fine. I've had shielding in the solution but was hesitant to put a visible part in case it affected the appearance.
Good tip on the rinsing, I'll follow this for sure. Next is to figure out what to do...
Does anyone know how to remove the metal grilles from the original AppleDesign powered speakers? I'm preparing a set to retrobrite and don't want to risk causing corrosion on the grilles, but cannot work out how to remove them. I've tried a heat gun and some force from inside but they won't budge.
Hey all,
I have a performa 5400 which I've been having a lot of fun mucking around with audio on. I'm surprised it can handle quite a few tracks of CD quality audio in Soundedit 16, maybe thanks to the solid state storage upgrade.
I have a Sonnet Allegro USB / FW card installed which works...
I never found any driver for the 30/8 either, only the 30/2. But it works fine without any driver as long as a compatible monitor is connected at startup.
