Questions about Meow Toast battery replacement

@tt Basically they are the same as the original you get mounted in the original Macintosh Motherboard. The problem with them is, the cost as they are more expensive (and less convient to source). The second problem is they will eventually leak and explode the same way the original does. But...

Questions about Meow Toast battery replacement

🤣 I was referring to the 3D Model file design, the result itself is not bad. Tapes... well... do the job too 🤔

Questions about Meow Toast battery replacement

Not really but I can modify the design to fillup the place a single PCB would take. However the pins on the back would still need to be taken into account. I don't mind sharing the FreeCad source, it's just that I'm quite ashamed of the "Methods" use to accomplish the result... far from...

Questions about Meow Toast battery replacement

Sorry for the SPAM but I finally took the time to publish the 3D model online (and PCB): https://www.printables.com/model/618658-holder-for-12-aa-to-cr2032-adapter-for-apple-macin

Questions about Meow Toast battery replacement

@bigmessowires If you go with the PCB I proposed, you would need the following CR2032 holders: BAT-HLD-001-THM From TE Connectivity (Mouser: https://mou.sr/3Qlr9Ol) 3D holders (Single and Dual) are in attachment. I use PETG for the part with 0.12mm (0.4mm nozzle)

Questions about Meow Toast battery replacement

And here is the same PCB CR2032 adapter but with my 3D-printed socket to make a perfect fit. I can even replace the CR2032 without having to move the adapter. On some Macintosh II where both batteries are mounted side by side, I had to make a special version of the 3D part. All machines work...

Questions about Meow Toast battery replacement

Hello there! I had the same "need" a year ago and I solved all of this with my own PCB design for a vertical placement and recently secured the adaptor with 3D printed parts covering the battery compartment. Yes, the PCB needs to be manufactured with side copper coating, and to increase the...

Macintosh Plus reboot in a loop or vertical bars

For the Analog board there is clearly a problem with the 12V (measured at 7V). But I don't really understand your suggestion regarding the MB. I have a good MB that works fine on a known good Analog board. So I suppose that this good Analog board provide the correct voltage to the working MB...

Macintosh Plus reboot in a loop or vertical bars

Hi Thank you for your reply, Yes, you are right, several traces are corroded. I did the patch wire while I was measuring with an ohmmeter connections linked by "corroded" traces. The Analog board need to be checked. I received the Zener doiod yesterday so I will see if I can save the Analog...

Macintosh Plus reboot in a loop or vertical bars

I did test the Logic board with known good RAM and I had garbage image and sound. Maybe I should swap the ROM with the working MB to check if the problems follows the ROM or the trace/shorts or bad components on the logic board.

Macintosh Plus reboot in a loop or vertical bars

Hello, I have a Macintosh Plus that have 2 problem: The Analog board only provide 9.4V measured on the connector on the Analog board side (Same on the J8 from the Logic board). All the connector have been soldered (with new solder past). The board had bad corrosion traces but I did measured...

Death chime and Simasimac on Mac SE/30

So I received the IC's for replacement...  but before doing this task I wanted to do a second "vinegar" bath and warm water dipping therapy for the logic board. After this I did let the board dry and reseated all the IC's ROM and SIMMs (Except for the RAM, I decided to use another set of four)...

Death chime and Simasimac on Mac SE/30

Thank you very much Techknight for your extensive answer. I was wondering where would the "zebra" pattern where coming from...  now I got the answer. VRAM default content. Yesterday I start looking at each and every trace on the board with a microscope just to see if corrosion where bellow the...

Death chime and Simasimac on Mac SE/30

Thank you. Yes you are right. I just finalized the order from DigiKey in order to repopulate the board with "fresh" IC. Also I took the chance to get spare bourn filter. If I'm lucky I will get the parts for Christmas ;-)
