    Memory for iMac G3/400 DV

I got some 2x256mb pc100 sdram chips recently, and they dont work with the iMac. They appear to be double-sided (chips on both sides). Is there an issue with double-sided sdram memory in a slot-loading iMac? Or..I'll have to try Single sided SDRAM (currently in).

iMac G3/400 DV and some other items :)

Got items from a friend recently, she had them for a while... A slot load indigo iMac G3/400 DV with 128mb ram, 10gb drive, CD drive and Mac OS 9.1 on it. Will get some more ram so I can put OSX on it! Have a 40gb drive to add to it to allow dual booting of 9.2.2 and 10.3 :) Two iomega...

Mac OS X and iMovie 2

Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.1 is an upgrade CD and also has 10.0 install CDs. Should run nicely on the iMac (running 9.2.2 currently) - upgraded it to 192mb ram recently! - will make it a nice file server for the 68k and older PPC macs that i sometimes use [:)] ]'> Another CD for iMovie 2 - I...

    "Dead" HD in G4 Mini?

Sounds like it is a 'dead hd' given the circumstances you said. You could always try and take the drive out, and put it in an external enclosure to see if it is recognised on another machine.

    Bigger drive in iMac

Would be nice to run OS/X - sadly 64mb of ram won't be a pleasant experience :'( or maybe it won't install. Got it running with the 40GB drive - its running very nicely on OS 9.2.2 (added to sig). Should have learned to be patient - had to hold down the 'C' key for a bit longer than i...

    Bigger drive in iMac

Have one of my tray-load iMacs going now and have put a 40GB drive in to replace its' old 4GB. Drive has not been partitioned. Can't exactly boot into Mac OS :-/ - just hangs at Open Firmware. Was reading up on Lowendmac that the main drive partition has to have a under 8GB partition - is...

    Two iMacs

Since there has been a suggestion of a 'tired' flyback transformer, I gave one of them a go on an external monitor ... IT WORKS! Boots up into Mac OS 8.6 and actually has 64MB of ram - probably wont do the transformer thing for a while (interesting to find the part). Mac OS 9.2.2 should run...

    Two iMacs

Update: I picked them up a couple of days ago [:)] ]'> They are original '98 tray load iMacs - 4GB Drive, 32MB ram, 233MHz G3 proc. Probably no changes made ... however The condition is what is said of them on the auction page - not working although they will chime, the hard drive spins...

    Two iMacs

Won an auction on two iMacs for $10. Just a little drive out of town to pick em up! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=182007598 From the picture it looks like they are slot loaders, and a little bit of work to get them working. Nice to have a 9.2.2 capable machine! [;)] ]'>

    System 7 Poll

7.1 mainly - used on my old macs and it's lightweight. 7.6.1 next as well - especially with the Mac OS 8 look addons. 7.5.5 lastly - handy as a boot volume on an external disk (and its free too!)

    intel Mac Mini :)

I was aware of the Intel GMA 950 Graphics when I looked at buying it. Always have my PC if i need to play the heavier games. But for what i play which seems to be Diablo 2, Guild Wars and Titan Quest it is not too bad! [8D] At least Diablo 2 has a native OS X installer, and runs under an...

    intel Mac Mini :)

...and it is the 2.0GHz version. Picked up today, and have found it hard to get way from it! [:D] ]'> . For the entry level mac it certainly speeds along - first mac in many years!.

    First decent liberation :)

Scored myself a SE/30 for $5 + a 160mb scsi harddisk. [:D] ]'> SE/30 has a 40mb harddisk + 5mb of ram. Had to reformat the drive since the partition table was messed up :'( - otherwise its a great little machine. Now to find myself a Torx-T15 screwdriver. Any decent places in NZ for that?
