I don’t think we paid for local calls outside a flat rate in the 90s (at least where I lived). In fact, multi-hour downloads would get interrupted so frequently by my mom picking up the phone that we got a second line. Nothing like downloading that 20 MB program update from AOL over three hours, to have it cut off by a phone pick up and having to start all over again.

Lucky you. We eventually did a second line in. I managed to get us on the ADSL trial for the city of Dublin in 2001 and it was the beginning of modern Internet usage for me: 5-8KB/s downloads, no cost (during the trial) / low cost (monthly flat rate after that) and no fighting for the phone line.

Interesting. People I knew had DSL in the 90s. Around 2000, we got cable Internet which obviously vastly blew away anything else before it. Life hasn’t been the same since!

I honestly hadn’t heard of charge/minute outside of pay phones, at least in my lifetime.
Bought some CDs... really do not know why but :) prices were good ...

@zefrenchtoon I have connected it to Quadra 650. Be sure to have right AppleTalk cable, there is a topic on this forum alrerady about it. For now I have tried Ballad 1.0 and Cubase 2.5. Would like to find tutorials for Cubase ...

    Thanks for your answer !
I just tried Ballade (and some of its samples) and Cubase with my SC-88 and I can now confirm that it works quite great (few quirks so I will have to check caps as I thought) :)

About Cubase ... I understand why you were talking about tutorials ... o_O
