PB 540c - PCMCIA module Rev. B problem

Hi,

I've got a problem with my PB 540c with PCMCIA module Rev. B:

Someday the module did not recognize any HFS nor HFS+ CF card anymore. It always wanted to format it as "ProDOS" CF card.

When I use my second PCMCIA module (Rev. C) the CF cards are recognized on the same PowerBook without problems. Can't see any visual damages on the Rev. B module.

Did someone already have the same problem?

I am at a loss.

Not sure what the appropriate tool is, but maybe you need to repair the disk somehow? With floppy disks at least that sort of message is the sign of either a dead disk, an incompatible format, or some kind of data corruption that makes it impossible for the computer to tell what kind of data is on it. Maybe it can't tell that it's HFS/HFS+ anymore for some reason?

The CF-card is working on a different PCMCIA module, as I wrote and on any other PowerBook with PCMCIA card slot (I have about 40 of these PowerBooks...)

Same problem with different working card adapters and CF cards.

Only this Rev. B module is somewhat faulty.

My Rev B module behaves the same... it always wants to format CF cards no matter what card or format I throw at it.

When I let it try to format the card it just hangs there trying forever until you cut power turn it off.
