How to read 1440k disk drive on Macintosh SE?

Recommended Posts

This might be a silly question...

I just realised that my Macintosh SE unable to read my Floppy Emu if the disk size is 1440k.

I was thinking earlier to swap the floppy drive from my Classic to SE. But realising that Floppy Emu not even able to emulate 1440k on the SE, I'm thinking to reconsider it.

Is there anything I can do (software/hardware mod) to enable the SE to read 1440k disk – except swapping logic board from SE/30 or FDHD?

You'd need to swap the ROM chips, and the disk controller(the IWM) with ones from a SE FDHD.     Might be worth seeing if someone here has a set for sale in the trading post(or a battery bombed SE FDHD logic board that the needed chips are still in good shape)

Exactly a good idea! Thanks for your advise!
