HAL2001
I want to repair the trackpad of a iBook G3 clamshell. It’s not working. I reseated the cable but that didn’t help. The trackpad Control panel says there is no trackpad available
bibilit
Probably the better solution will be to replace the unit.
Mighty Jabba
Yeah, I'm not sure they are really repairable. Hopefully it's just the cable or trackpad and not the connector on the board.
HAL2001
I noticed that the trackpad is glued to the uppercase. Is it worth trying to open it?
Mighty Jabba
You're basically going to end up destroying it, I'm afraid.
HAL2001
It’s installed with the universal 9.2.2 disc from macos9lives. That disc has no trackpad control panel. Is it even necessary on os9? Can I do something on the software side of things?thanks!
Byrd
Even without the Trackpad control panel, it should still function as a normal mouse. Try a retail OS install of OS 9.1. Reseat cable, check for damage - they were easily severed.
