LC_575
Today I'm proud to announce that I used my MP 2100 to take notes for an entire period of Chem 121! It worked out fine. I used HW recognition mode for outlining and ink text for examples/equations. It was useful and fun! (ANYTHING to make Chem 121 more interesting. Chem is my least favorite subject). I already use my Newton for my college schedule, reminders, and alarms. I hope to add email access at some point (my coll's .edu accts. don't use SSL, oddly). So, just wanted to share that little successful-live-retrocomputing story with you all.
Hrududu
Nice work! I was using my Newton in college for notes until just last year when I graduated. Always had somebody ask what the heck it was. You're right, it makes boring classes more fun.
macgreg
This is a fantastic effort!
Concorde1993
Congrats, LC_575. They are indeed versatile little computers.
dhh
Cool! I use a MessagePad 110 every day for calendar and notes at university. Handwriting recognition is off, so I use "electronic ink" for writing. I also make a lot of sketches on the Newton. I sync the Newton with a PowerBook 3400c/240 at home, which is connected to a networked HP LaserJet for printing. Old tech is still usefull !
switch998
Glad you're getting use out of that newton I have to say, when I had the messagepad, I would have never thought to bring it to class with me. I usually use a TX1000 for note taking, but i'm tired of propping it up on a bunch of notebooks, so I think I might steal your idea
CelGen
I still use a 2100 for keeping track of my constantly changing work schedule. I wake up at 4AM, the Newton chimes at 4:04, reminding me about the schedule (if I am scheduled that day) and I'm out the door by 4:20.
