Newton 2000 - just went blank

Recommended Posts

I have been using my Newton at least once a week (usually during the boring weekly tech report meetings of endless powerpoinr slides of tedium). I love my Newton 2000 but this Monday I slid the on button and nothing happened. I plugged in the power cable, I re-charged the batteries, I carefully moved the power cable connector around to ensure a contact, tried different power source..but still blank. [:(]]'> My Newton 100 has a round internal battery that I had to replace once and it worked again but the 2000 does not show such a battery.

[?] So... where do I start with my troubleshooting please?

Thank you in advance.

Michael

Remove the battery and power for a little while, then attach the power cable only. Slide and hold the power button over, and a very dim screen should come up asking if you want to erase or not. If you get this far, proceed with sliding the power button normally a few times until it goes.

Some sort of weird PMU or similar problem, not sure what is really going on but mine does it all the time.

most of the times you can just press the reset button and it will spring back to life. my MP2100 did that a few times. the first time i wigged out cause i just bought it. i remembered about the reset button ( cause in reality the newton 2000/2100 does not really turn off when you slide the power button unless the batteries run out or the power adapter is removed with no batteries, it puts it to sleep but its still really operating but at a real low power level (like the Macs deep sleep in a way)

A little patience and this was the solution :b&w:

Newton now back in action.

Thank you all very much.
