Based on the photo of a Mac Classic below, I'm guessing the stock fan in the Classic & Classic II must be 60mm x 25mm like the SE & SE/30, but can anyone confirm this? I assume it's a 2-wire fan that doesn't use PWM. THANKS!

Please bear with me for I have never used an online form before and wasn’t sure if I’m in the right place to ask help , Anyways picked up a MacIntosh Classic 1 for super cheap not knowing if it worked and I am completely in love with this thing only problem is I was having trouble booting it up got it to boot once or twice fix some capacitors on the motherboard and I went to Boot it up the other day and left it on for a while ( it usually took about five minutes before it would try to boot ) and nothing was happening I went to turn it on and off again and sparks went flying

Recently my friend has bought himself a Macintosh classic. It’s in amazing condition the only problem is that he decided to replace the capacitors on the digital board himself. Whilst doing this he ruined a few traces and did a terrible job of soldering. After he had done this and run into some issues he gave it to me as he no longer wanted to keep it. I would say this computer looks “out of the box” new but for the issue that the screen wasn’t working. Hello Folks I recently acquire a Macintosh Classic for parts not working , logic board was pretty clean without battery explosion, as usual I washed Logic board and recapped with new radials capacitors . at the first start up no chime and distorted checkerboard pattern , I then replaced VIA and Classic start up with chime and apparently works but required at start up more ram even if expansion board was installed ( System 7.0.1) At this point I started up with system 6.0.7 floppy and discovered that only 512k ram were "detected" with or without ram expansion board installed ( at lea

I have a Mac Classic that suffered some battery leakage, damaged capacitors and the Y1 oscillator broken. I have cleaned up the board a bit and replaced the capacitors and am replacing the oscillator tomorrow. Should this fix the board (its currently showing a chequerboard screen when turned on)?

Hi there, I have got a macintosh classic with a broken motherboard. It gives horizon lines and doesn't boot. I have tried a lot. I have cleaned the motherboard with alcohol, I have cleaned it in soapy water, I have replaced all capacitors, I have checked the traces and contacts, all with no succes. When I got this mac it had a bad battery leak but thankfully no traces were erased but I think (having tried almost everything) some chips got effected by the battery acid. What else can I try other than replacing the motherboard? All sugestions are more than welcome! Thanks, Luuk.

Hi everyone. I recently pulled out my Macintosh Classic from the closet so I can play around with it. I acquired it on a eBay auction a couple of years ago. The Macintosh has a 500 mb hard drive with 4MB of RAM installed. The little machine runs great but lacks sound. No startup chime or anything but boots right into System 7.5 that I installed fresh less then an hour ago. I go into the Control Panel for sound and it still plays nothing even though the volume is on max. I've plugged in my external speaker and it makes very little sound. I've even tried out the Control Panel for sound as well w

I've bought a Macintosh Classic computer recently, it was in a very nice condition with original keyboard and mouse, but with an issue of a chessboard-like pattern displayed on the screen all the time. At first I thought that it might be caused by capacitors leak on the logic board, but after I've cleaned the logic board in a dishwasher and than with pure alcohol, nothing happened — the pattern on display was the same. I picked up a Macintosh Classic knowing it was non functioning for a very nice price. It has horizontal lines across the screen on start up with no bong. When turned off and on a few times its horizontal lines are scrambled into a mess. It needs a new PRAM battery. Will it boot without the PRAM battery? My guess is it is the capacitors. I've had the motherboard out to lightly rub the areas around the capacitors with methylated spirits. It had a very little amount of capacitor liquid on the board.
