Well, it would be more ideal if it were 64 GB, but it's close enough, as getting anything with IOS 6 on it is very hard.

Millions of iPhone 3GS's are crying right now.

CC_333 was probably referring to something that is very fast on ios 6. The 3GS isn't exactly the fastest iOS 6 handset. Either way, the 3GS does make for an okay phone. If you did want something with iOS 6, then the 3GS would be okay.

Yes, Sorry. That was what I meant, Themk; anything reasonably MODERN (i.e., anything with LTE and a larger screen) that runs iOS 6 (which basically means the 5, the iPad 4, and original iPad Mini, most of which have been upgraded to newer IOSes over time to remain relevant or to gain new features).

Incidentally, the iPhone 4s can be downgraded OTA to iOS 6.1.3 without SHSH blobs (but only if whatever version it's at is jailbreakable; I'm not certain if 9.3.4/9.3.5 is yet), which is much faster than the 3GS.

A 4 on iOS 5 is pretty good too. iOS 6 on the 4 is a bit clunky, but better than the 3GS.

An iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4, in ANY color or capacity, in this day and age is pretty much a Holy Grail sort of thing, though [:D]

I keep forgetting that the 5 is when LTE was introduced. Certinally you would want LTE on any phone you are using as your daily driver. (Unless SMS/MMS and standard telephone calls are all you do with your phone... at which that point I would rather own a flip phone than use a smartphone as a basic calling device)

Yes. 3G is okay, but it gets annoying when I want to do something that requires speed (like tethering to my computer; it's adequate in the city, where 3G is relatively fast, but up here, it's almost as slow as 2G/1x at times).

And, if I could, I'd use one of these instead.

Ahh, I would love to trade my iPhone for one of those you linked above c! Unfortunately, the Internet is too convenient, I could never give it up!

I have one too, and no, it's not very modern. It works though.

I also have an iPad 3 that came with iOS 5 originally, but I upgraded it to iOS 6, all the way to the newest version, 6.1.3.

When I saw what iOS 7 was like, though, I decided to leave the iPad alone. As a result, it still runs 6.1.3 to this day, and I'm never going to update it.

Same, I have gotten a little bit more used to the new UI, but I like the old one better. Oh well. I just hope that my 6s with 9.3.3 can get me through the next few years. I paid cash for it, so I'm not obligated to stick with any one carrier.

Yes, I also have a 6 Plus, originally on iOS 8.4, which I updated to 9.3 when I heard they were adding native support for WiFi calling.

I sort of regret doing that, as I liked 8.4 better, but 9.3 is still better than 10. Unless 10.3.x is jailbroken and a version of ClassicLockScreen is released for it, I probably will never upgrade to it, because it permanently changes the way one unlocks it (no more "slide to unlock..."). Otherwise, it's not too different, and I could probably get used to it. But removing "slide to unlock..." was one step too far for me.

It sounds nit-picky of me I know, but little things like that matter to me.

OK, got some interesting stuff today:

  • A DP2.0 Power Mac G5 (aside from some scuffs and scratches on one side, it looks practically new inside and out)
  • Two iMacs (one appears to be an early G5, as there's no iSight camera, and the other looks newer, can't tell if it's a later G5 w/ iSight, or an early Intel).
  • A box of random stuff, including three USB floppy drives, a nice looking Apple power cable (looks like it could've gone with a 8600/9600/beige G3), some 1 GB RAM DIMMs, some floppy disks, and a few other bits.
  • Some sort of Dell server.

The best part is that it was all $25!

OK, here is what I know so far:

  • The iMacs are both bone stock, and have Leopard 10.5.1 installed, both have failing displays (the G5 is much MUCH worse, but the C2D is showing the intial symptoms too, so they'll both have to be repaired). They function correctly otherwise, as far as I can tell.
  • The Latitude D600 has a completely shattered hinge, but appears to work properly otherwise

I will try the other Latitude and the G5 tower soon, though I don't see why they wouldn't work, as they're both in much better condition overall.

Vertical stripes. I've read this is a common problem with the iMacs, especially the 17" ones (which these are).

How hard to replace and expensive to buy are replacement LCDs for these?
