    SE/30 8/159 - $100 on eBay

Ah, got it. I don't have any test equipment, though, so no buzzing here. But thanks for your response.

Themk, I'm not sure what you mean by "buzzing," but thanks for offering. I'm not too serious about making my card work, though. It was a long shot that someone would have the granddaughter card as a spare, but I thought I'd ask. I messaged olePigeon a while back about some SE/30 Ethernet cards, which he still has, I think. I may just pick one up from him instead.

    Mac DB15 Video to MiniDP

Well, yeah, I could do that, but I'm looking for something more elegant. The Macintosh way...

    Mac DB15 Video to MiniDP

In the spirit of BMOW's new ADB-USB converter (https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/30470-retro-usb-input-converter-for-keyboards-and-mice/) and Themk's follow-up thread about an ADB keyboard-mouse switch (https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/30475-adb-keyboard-and-mouse-switch/), I just wanted to throw out there that one nice peripheral to have would be a Mac DB15 video to mini DisplayPort converter. I have a DP KVM that I'd love to hook my Quadra 840av to if I had the ADB-USB and video converter. I'm guessing it would have to be externally powered, seeing as how similar devices, like StarTech's VGA to HDMI converter (https://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/Video/VGA-to-HDMI-Portable-Adapter-Converter-USB-Audio-Power-1080p~VGA2HDU), borrow USB power, which obviously is not available on Macs of that vintage. Any enterprising souls looking for a new project?

Sorry, didn't know I had to make a gallery public to make individual photos public. They should be visible now.

    SE/30 8/159 - $100 on eBay

Getting back to the original topic of this thread (ahem)... I finally acquired "the tool" so I could open the case and take it apart: And what do I find? A Daynaport E/SI30 Ethernet card! ... But no breakout card with the ports. Argh! So close, yet so far. Perhaps a kind soul on this forum has a dead E/SI30 with a breakout card they'd be willing to part with? A closer look at the motherboard and the tube: All in all, a bit dusty, but looks pretty good. I'll send the motherboard out to get re-capped soon, but so far, I'm liking what I see.

Huh. That could explain the 800K drive, then...

For the overall condition of the unit, I do think I got a good deal. Compare with: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-APPLE-MACINTOSH-SE-30-COMPUTER-M5119-WORKS-/292095695658 I wouldn't pay $230 + $110 shipping, yet 15 people are watching that one and none tracked mine despite being essentially the same bundle. Maybe it's out of morbid curiosity... I totally expected a re-capping will be needed for mine. I went through that with my Quadra 840av, but it's totally worth it. That machine runs like a champ.

    SE/30 8/159 - $100 on eBay

I picked up this one over the weekend: http://www.ebay.com/itm/222486106965 It just arrived today, and it's as advertised: nice bright screen, clear sound, very few blemishes with mild yellowing, booted right up. The only drawback I found is apparently the floppy drive was replaced at some point with an 800K drive. At least, the Finder gives me no option to format a high-density disk as 1.4MB. I'm not terribly bothered by that, though. I can get a replacement drive later. I find it odd that I was the only bid. No one else was even watching it. Was $100 + $75 shipping enough to scare away people? Seemed like a decent deal to me.
