I have an extra DuoDock mother board.I want to put A/UX on my Duo 230. I have other extra parts around. SO... I'm going to take the docking connector from the dock board, and an FPU socket from some other system... hand etch a small board, and make a DuoFPU Micro dock, thus allowing A/UX to run. All I gotta do is find the dang PINOUT! ARGH! I've been searching for days. ~Marchie ~Chaplain Marchie Holder of the Compact Mac - -Stick of Justice, with Explodeing CRT head -Wand of Power with Shocking Flyback Transformer Tip ~~"We are all Mad here"~~ |

which pinout and why are you using an fpu socket from another system? the original duo dock had an FPU socket on the mobo and i am sure someone would gladly trade one of those for a later rev. and you could buz out the connections to layout your pcb and get all your parts from that. also, the duo hack site that i posted shows a modification of a standard dock (the mid-not mini-not micro form factor) to include the ac adapter, a floppy adapter would be an elegant solution for your mod chassis and give you provision for adb out even if you need to replace the board in it.jt p.s. i wonder if adding provision for VRAM to your custom dock spec would be practical? breaking the 8 bit vidres depth with a full 640x480 implemented on an FPU microdock would be freakin' awsome! back again: when you layout your pcb, extend all the traces from the 030 docking PDS to a IIsi PDS connector if you add provision for jumpering apple's bollixed implementation of the connections it should be signal a/o pin compatible with the NuBus adapter or any 030 PDS made for IIsi, IIci, IIfx, LC-030 or SE/30. it would be interesting to see if any of them would actually work. the layout for a universal 030 PDS adapter would be a fascinating project do do cooperatively and would make for some interesting content. i've got the book on the fx/ci/30 pds comparisons. adding the info from your IIsi/NuBus/CoPro adapter connections and my DuoDock/PDS/CoPro/VRAM mobo info would make a great jumping off point for all manner of 030 based hacks and database content worthy of posting on any 68k Site. thank the maniac!let me know if you want any of the other info from my books on the other 030 PDS slots. i think i've got an original duo dock over in storage, but i don't remember if there is a copro installed or not, do you have access to either or to a 270c for testing A/UX? jt

Yes, I have a DuoDock II w/ FPU.I'm going to attempt to install A/UX on it. If it won't work in the dock, there's no way it'll work out... ~Marchie ~Chaplain Marchie Holder of the Compact Mac - -Stick of Justice, with Explodeing CRT head -Wand of Power with Shocking Flyback Transformer Tip ~~"We are all Mad here"~~ |

yup, i hate it when superhack dreams die too!best of luck when you test it, comrade, i think you've still got a pretty good shot. if it doesn't work right off, make sure to try different VRAM configs in the dock. you might want to do the same thing even if it works in the Dock II, before laying out any circuits. did the Dock I have the copro socket also or was i wrong about that? jt
