Somebody is selling an original cd (no manual) of oracle 7 for a/ux 3.0.1 on ebay. Anybody ever try oracle on a/ux? Is it lurking on a server around here somewhere?

what's the link to the auction? If someone here were to buy that, I would *VERY* much like an opportunity to try it out/see it in action as well

I managed to pick up one of the two copies of Oracle that he was selling, along with some A/UX docs which I have partially scanned. Someone who knows what they are doing please email me to tell me where to post them. I dont use hotline but I can provide ftp/http/afp server space and some bandwidth for the docs and Oracle for a while.

I can kinda-sorta pretend that I know what I'm doing

I've been researching running databases on 68k's and that would be just the thing that I need. How big would an ISO of the CD be? (No more than 650 mb ~ish, one would hope) (*seein's how I'm on dialup )

I am sure there are Oracle for dummies books around. The version on EBAY was for A/UX 3.0.1, not sure how 3.1 works with it.

I have cable so d/l an iso isnt a problem for me.

I'm on dialup, so as long as ftp or http supports continuing downloads, or it's over hotline, I'm fine (usually)

A/UX 3.0.whatever can be updated to 3.1.whatever, I think that that particular thing is even on Apple's website.

Some apps compiled for 3.0.1 might have problems with 3.1, anyway we wont know until somebody has it on a server for download. My aws95 is setup and ready for it.

I have the files and burned the cd on my PC. Just rename the file to *.iso and burn it with nero like the A/ux 2.0 cd floating around.

I was going to do it on my 8500 powermac but the thing pissed me off when the bracket holding the start button broke into a few pieces (dam cheap fragile plastic). I can still turn it on/off from the keyboard but now the power light is just hanging in the case because the bracket held it in place. Need to find a new one or buy a cheap 9500 and put all the parts into it.

Anyway the cd was recognised in my aws95 box. It has a screen for installing into apple os or a/ux (2 seperate options). I went to install but the instructions said I needed to install some C libraries from the a/ux install so I will leave it for another day.
