I want to try OS 7.5.5 on my 840av but the 7.5.3 cd I have is for PM only (wont boot), same with my 7.6.1 cd.

Did apple ever release a 7.5.5 cd?

Where can I get a 7.5.x bootable 68k compatible cd image?

I have a 7.5 CD that came with my Performa 630CD. I am not sure how to go about making an image of it though.

Ok, I made an image of the CD using Disk Copy. You should be able to download it (86 megs though) and burn the image to make a bootable CD. I've never done this before, so I'm not sure if it'll work, but I think it will. How do you want to get the file, I could put it in my Mac's webpage section, but I have dynamic IP service, so you would have to be able to download it in about 3 hours is the max my IP address stays the same.

If you want Mac OS 7.6 I can make a toast or disk copy image. My machine has a dedicated IP so I can start a Hotline Server so you can grab it.

If Plunge wants he can upload his image to the server as well to save his IP from changing...

A hotline server with both images would be cool. How fast can you send data B of J?

I hope both images are for 68k macs unlike the original cd's I have that list 7500/8500 mac or 9500 etc. The only general purpose original cd I have is for os 8.1

Let me know if/when the images are ready for download, and thanks!

P.S. I can only burn the images if they are in a format that toast (for os 9.1) or any PC software can burn. I dont have an OSX machine so dont use anything OSX specific

TBoJ,

How do I use Hotline Servers, I've heard them mentioned on the forums here, but never looked into it.

Unknown,

I created the disk image in OS X. I have been able to mount images created in X in OS 8.1, so you should be able to mount the image on a Mac with older software. I don't have Toast, so I really don't know if the image I made will be readable by Toast. The CD I have came with, and runs fine on my 68k Mac. You might want to try mounting the image, and copying the files in it to a new CD in Toast.

The 9500/8500/7500/whateverelseit'sdesignedtobootfor disc will boot and install successfully onto the mac you're using... (and onto my IIsi, P600, and countless others.)

Did you hold down the "C" key when you were booting? is all your scsi stuff set up right? what kind of CDROM drive are you using?

I don't really trust using the C key, I always use:
Command-Option-Shift-Delete
[they say it is "bypass internal drive" but really it is closer to "boot from anything but the current startup drive"]
try giving that a try… [btw, I have used a PM 7.6.1 CD to install on a Duo, so I'd think it would work here ]

If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac!

I would love to grab 7.6.1. Wouldn't we all?
Thanks BoJ for suggesting your IP/server.
