Now my problem is the speed. It's f..kin slow. I got an dsl 785KB connection but it just speed up to 30KB till 40KB.
Could anybody gimme a hint why.
I just upgraded to 64mb ram an got OS 9.0.4 runnin.
OS 9 fixed some of my lan bugs but at the end IE 5.1.7 is super slow even if i give all the ram to IE.

Try iCab. Its a browser that, IMHO is more fit for use on older Macs.

Well, we might have another problem caused by B vs. b. Your dsl connection is 785kb/s, NOT 785kB/s. It's important to keep track of that factor of 8!

Now, file transfer speeds are usually displayed in terms of kB/s, not kb/s. So, depending on where you got those 30k or 40k numbers, that may actually be 30-40kB/s. Once you factor in stop bits and other overhead, that's really 300-400kb/s. That's very close to what you should be getting.

So my question to you is, have you kept proper track of B vs. b?

B is bytes and b is bits

My adsl for example, is 256kb - or 256kilobit/sec just out of clarity :). That's about 256,000bits/second or a raw 32,000kilobytes/second. figuring in the whole business with packet overhead & the like, I only get a maximum of about 27.5kilobytes/second download speed.

768kilobit/second dsl should get near 80kilobyte/second download speeds from sites that can serve the data at that speed
