Can I make my A/UX box a gateway to get onto the ethernet network it is connected to?

The short answer is yes...

you'll have to wait for the long answer though, because I have no idea how to do it...

Maybe IPNET router would work (that's a mac program... but I'm sure that there's a UNIX way to do it as well...)

Download this control panel. It works under normal versions of System 7, and should work under A/UX.

It will not work on A/UX because of the AppleTalk version.

If/When I get the IIsi out, I'll put A/UX on the 500megger (1.2 gigger is gone now, and I can't change the settings on the 250megger to work at the same time as the 500, so it's just the 500) and see what that CP does, if it works, maybe I'll get some serial based macs, and start browsing and such

RetroNET/CoryNET should be based on AppleTalk stuff...

BTW, Netatalk (IIRC) is just an AFP server for linux/*nix

You may need to compile a new kernel with both ethernet and Appletalk support.

The private, offline mirror at home will be. Served fresh off the Q700, running A/UX!

What I want is a network bridge that bridges my ethernet network to my localtalk network. In the normal Mac OS you can use the LocalTalk bridge, but you can't use this in A/UX. I am aking if there is some Unix varient that I can use to do this.

I'm almost certain that there is, you might have to look on things like Jagubox, versiontracker, and/or some other old A/UX sites and mirrors...
