Nice site. You can upgrade a Quadra 700 with a Quadra 650/800 motherboard. I believe Apple designed this board for the 700 case originally because everything fits perfectly. With a new board, you don't have to overclock the CPU. You can have 128mb max RAM and 33mhz CPU.

Unfortunately, unless you hax0r the case, you still can't access one of the NuBus slots. "**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

call me sad but I dont like messing with things that can't be unfixed easily, and I dont see q700 cases rolling off the production line any time soon...as appealing as the upgrade is from a technical point of view :) besides I still have a WGS 95 waiting to reborn, now I have a replacement for the dat drive all is in readiness, awaiting inspiration. qed

I know what you mean...whenever i do a hack, i like it to be completely reversable. If I was to put a 650 board into my Q700, i'd probably use that slot for a Radius Rocket, or something else that doesn't have any ports on it."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

Doesn't the 650 board already come with a CPU?"**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

Doesn't the 650 board already come with a CPU? well yes normally it does, unless one takes it out to give to someone else (in a moment of folly) qed

Thats what i thought...all the bare '040 boards i've seen have usually come with the CPU preinstalled."**** em" - Jobs in regards to customers Warrior maclover5 68kMLA Official 68kMLA Detective Number of 68ks Liberated: 7 Number of Contraband (PPC) Liberated from the Dumpster: 1 |

too bad I gave that non-full 040 from the 578 away with the 840av...(my 840av's full 040/40MHz went into the 578, which I hear was later dumpstered, but rumour has it, it was liberated...) I hope you can get the wgs working, and the IIci/650 successfully transplanted. (this makes me think of a hack that SVP did, to a IIcx and a 7100...)
