Need a CD Player program that can take the audio digitally through the SCSI Bus and play it that way. My Powerbook External CD ROM doesn't have a proper hookup so I can't use the regular line out etc for it. I've tried playing CD's but it seems to send the signal to the 4-Pin connector at the back and apple cd-roms don't have phono jacks on the front.

I know SoundApp can read digital CDData, but it can't play them, so I want to be able to play it.

Any ideas?

Only way I managed to hear CD with my lc475 and external cd-rom so that sound came out from the mac was to import a cd track with QT and there was a button (options, preview or something like that) where you could play that track what you were importing. Only problem is you can't play it in background.

Or if your Powerbook has PPC there are several programs to play cd audio through the SCSI Bus like Mint Audio and beside playing CD through SCSI bus it can play 192kbps mp3 with 120 MHz 603 nicely in background Go to Top of Page

Mint Audio is nice but alas it requires 8.5 and the 5300cs will be like swimming through pea soup on 8.6.

I have also tried Audion 3 which also played CD through SCSI bus but it requires 8.6 and was terribly slow ??? Maybe Audion 1 or 2 will help?

MacOS 8.6 seems to run fine with my performa 5260 and 64 ram if I'm using only necessary extension and control panels. Many new applications also require CarbonLib so maybe you should reconsider 8.6?Go to Top of Page

AFAIK it was only with a system update that any CD audio can be sent through SCSI.

I am going to e-mail the authoer of SoundApp, since I don't think it would be too hard to add suport for this to the program, since it already uses digital audio when converting.
