Ive got a 660av with Debian 2.2 on it, but I can't seem to figure out how to set up DHCP [the few instructions I have found tell me that I should download dhcpcd client, or something… such a pain… "DL this so the internet will work!"-_-], but I found that it does seem to have PUMP on it… yet, I dont know how to set it up [all those stupid MAN pages, and gnome help were no use]

anyway here's the network set up:
Verizon DSL->Dad's Hub->My Hub->660av
on my 9500/G3/300 [also on My Hub], I do nothing more then select Ethernet and then DHCP in TCP/IP…
no router/switch [we have one but it always causes problems, so it's DCed]

if I can get this set up, I'd like to try and use it for a webserver…

If I open my window all the bugs will get in…That's just one more reason to use a Mac!

your server need not run DHCP, rather your router does DHCP, so you just need to tell your router to forward those ports you want to server to the 660av and start running the servers...

btw, with VerizonDSL (I heard) you're allowed to run a server... I just wish I'd known that when I lived in oregon...

*blinsk…*

I dont know how to get the 660av online

How do I do that in Linux?

[btw, you *can* run a server on Verizon DSL, it's just that the service sucks so bad, you wont want it to be a buisy server; 93kps down, 15kps up… and I was just going to host a small website ( http://www.toheart-infinity.cjb.net Yes, I am a guy, Yes it's all pink everywhere… but it's kinda for a friend of mine; and I might make another website more like my old one: http://geocities.com/clandeltacat/frames.html )]

oh, and given that I can someday get this thing online… where's a link to an apache setup website?

As I recall, it's http://www.apache.org (yes, it is)

I don'tk now what pump is... I'm also not a linux type of person,

Danamania here runs Debian on her Quadra 605, and I know a person whose run Debian (3.0) on a PowerPC andhe might know how...

You also might try looking for .conf files (to see what those can maybe get you)

Danamania isn't as active as sometimes.

I still haven't asked the debian expert I know, I'll try to ask him tonight. He'll probably know better than me what PUMP even is (linux program?) and how to get this schtuff working.

http://packages.debian.org/stable/base/pump.html

This is Debian's page for PUMP, it's a DHCP client, not a server...

They should have documentation for just about everything.
