it's been working fine, all day, until 10 minutes ago when i turned it on. starting up twice failed because of bus error and address error, starting up without extensions fails, and it freezes totally when i reset the PRAM. somewhere i got the idea that it's overheating, but it shouldn't be, since my house is fairly cool and it's got a 486 fan, a heatsink, and $2-an-ounce thermal grease on the CPU. any ideas on what's happening here? |

ugh. no. i was hoping nobody would say that. i've got a loose pin on my logic board connector and i'm afraid it'll break the next time i take it out. heh, it's taped on right now. i suppose i better try it though.. i'll update again in a sec.

hey i'm back and posting from the 630! i though i'd give it one more try. this time i removed the scanner that sits on top of the machine and it seems to be working normally again. apparently it was overheating after all- not from lack of fans but lack of airflow. cool. thanks for the help, ml5!Edited by - Brett B. on 17 Aug 2003 22:15:58 |
