Dana I just saw the most beautiful Quadra 605! It was at the Mac place, had absolutely no yellow, the case was like brand new, crisp colors, even the fan inside was brand new!

But the guy said he was keeping it and wasn't selling it.

Now I know what it's like for Quadra 605 Obsessions...but I couldn't buy it.

Same here...but for a very obvious reason. They're all sitting around at Dana's place!

a 605 painted eMac style would be cool!

Are you planning on "serverifying" it and attaching it to your eMac via networking so you can have just *that* much more hard drive space?

Dana, dumb question, but which 605 is serving danamania.com? iGuess it'd be the one underneath the Colour Display, right?

Of course. Ever lifted up a tray loading iMac after it's been sitting, running in a dusty environment for a while? Or have you ever opened up one in those conditions?

The only hassle is sometimes I do need to use it with a monitor

Nice setup -- looks like one big happy Mac family. BTW, what is the box under the tower on the far left?

Have you considered trying the Quadra-NTSC Monitor hack? (see http://www.jagshouse.com/AppleIIMonitor.html ) You could then run the cable to a TV or a Mac with video input and display danamania's screen on some other Mac's screen. I do something like this for my headless server.

The big box under the 8100/80 is a micropolis external scsi drive case for a full height scsi drive.
Didn't the company see the irony in its own name? That should be a Megopolis drive.

I bet you could hack several Q605 mobos into that thing and have room to spare. Or it could become an entire SCSI chain in one box with CD, Zip, Syquest, and few HDs installed inside.
