Looks like there is a problem initializing an expansion card. Do you have any expansion cards installed?Thant root error means that it can find the root image. My guess it that the peguin loader is looking for the root image in the wrong place. ___________________________ Life is like Jeopardy you have all the answers, you just need the questions. |

Have you tried booting or reinstalling Linux without the ethernet card? Perhaps that card is not supported?G4From128k by Day: Mild-Mannered Engineer and Trapeze(tm) Artist by Night: Colonel of Truth, Justice, and the Macintosh Way Reserve Officer in 68kMLA Cantankerous Coot Contingent

I agree with other posters that your penguin settings are not right causing the panic.quote: is that error -17 significant
You've probably got an extension in the MacOS that is initializing the ethernet card. This will lead to a different kind of panic or lock up. You will either have to boot the Mac with Shift held down (to disable all extensions) or disable the offender in Extensions Manager.

I had the very same issue with an ethernet card in my LC III. I attempted to troubleshoot it for quite a while until I finally gave up and got a different card (brand) off ebay which solved it immediately (after re-installing Debian).-Brad ______________________________________ www.32bitwonder.org ...because it's possible ______________________________________ www.32bitwonder.org ...because it's possible |

well when booting without extensions that error dosent appear, so i guess its the apple ethernet card drivers borking with it as for that kernel panic ... if the value in the command line field is wrong (it should be the path to the root disk) then it will panic ... double checking settings should sort it Orcadian MLA Division 68ks Liberated: 2 |
